Baby Shark’ by Pinkfong is now officially the most-watched video on videos going viral quickly, there are those that continue to remain popular over time, generating a significant number of views along the way.

YouTube viewing records are something that can change quite regularly. For example, in June of this year, Blackpink’s How You Like That overtook BTS’ Boy With Luv as the video with the BTS released Dynamite and that video managed to generate 100 million views in the first twenty-four hours, significantly improving on the 86 million views Blackpink’s video totaled in the first day and taking BTS back to the top again. Of course, views in one day are very different to all-time YouTube views.

Up until now, Despacito was the video with the most views on YouTube, thanks to the music video having been streamed more than seven billion times since it was ed. As the BBC reports, Baby Shark has now officially overtaken Despacito. While both now stand at seven billion views (and counting), Baby Shark has 7.042 billion compared to Despacito’s 7.038 billion.

How The Other Top YouTube Videos Compare

The same report also provides a handy top YouTube video views list that highlights just how much of a lead Baby Shark and Despacito now have over the others. For example, in third place is the music video for Shape of You by Ed Sheeran with just over five billion views. This is followed by See You Again by Wiz Khalifa (ft. Charlie Puth) in fourth, and Masha and the Bear along with Johny Johny Yes Papa in fifth and sixth place, respectively. All three of these videos now have more than four billion views apiece. Seventh to tenth place in order includes Uptown Funk, Gangnam Style, Learning Colors, and the music video for Sorry by Justin Bieber. All of which have between three and four billion views each.

With the Baby Shark video having first been ed in 2016, its rise to the top of the YouTube all-time rankings has not occurred quickly. Especially considering Despacito was released in 2017 and reached the top of the YouTube chart some time ago. Then again, Baby Shark was certainly helped along over the last few years through the emergence of the #BabySharkChallenge which took off on social media in 2018. Not to mention, it has spawned many other versions and covers ever since, including other variations from the same Pinkfong YouTube channel.
