For many years, there has been speculation about whether there would ever be an LGBTQ+ spin-off of The Bachelor, and now executive producer Jason Erlich reveals that it might happen sooner than later. Bachelor in Paradise featured Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty as the franchise's first-ever same-sex relationship. The Bachelor has never featured a gay lead, but season 23 lead Colton Underwood came out as gay two years after his season aired. In addition, The Bachelorette season 19 star Gabby Windey came out and revealed that she was dating a woman, comedian and TV writer Robby Hoffman, a year after her season aired.
"The two spinoffs that have been pitched to be the most frequently are a Bachelor for older people and a gay Bachelor."
In an interview with The Bachelor season 28 executive producer Jason Erlich revealed that the show wants to explore an LGBTQ+ spin-off in the near future. He said, "We hope to get the opportunity to do that. The most wonderful thing is that love is universal and so is the frustration of not finding love." In addition, executive producer Bennett Graebner shared that during his tenure on the show, the two spin-offs that have been pitched to him most frequently are "a Bachelor for older people and a gay Bachelor. We checked one of those boxes. We’re talking about checking out the other box."

The Golden Bachelor Fans Are "Invested" In Gerry's Women
"The country is pretty invested in the women they met on Gerry Turner's season."
The producers are currently searching for the lead of The Golden Bachelorette, a spin-off of the tremendously successful The Golden Bachelor. The Golden Bachelorette is scheduled to premiere in fall 2024, and there has been a lot of speculation about whether the leading lady will come from Gerry Turner's Golden Bachelor season. Executive producer Claire Freeland shared that she knows that "the country is pretty invested in the women they met on Gerry Turner’s season." The women became instant Bachelor Nation fan-favorites when they debuted on the show, and Claire's comment implies that one of them could take the lead of The Golden Bachelorette.
The Golden Bachelorette is one of the most-anticipated reality television series for the fall. Some frontrunners to be the lead from The Golden Bachelor are runner-up Leslie Fhima and Faith Martin, who placed third. In addition, Susan Noles, Kathy Swarts, Ellen Goltzer, Sandra Mason, April Kirkwood, Nancy Hulkower, and Joan Vassos have been mentioned as ideal leading ladies. Claire is correct that people are already invested in these women, so any one of them could be a The Golden Bachelorette.
It's also exciting to hear that the franchise is looking to create an LGBTQ+ spin-off of The Bachelor. It would be groundbreaking to have a series like that on network television. It's very important to have representation of different types of people on television. The franchise has already tried to be more inclusive of people of different racial backgrounds and of older age. Now it could do the same for the LGBTQ+ community. Hopefully, the LGBTQ+ Bachelor spin-off will happen in the very near future.
The Bachelor season 28 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
