On the current season of Bachelor In Paradise.
Bachelor Nation has seen several shocking twists over the years, and no matter how often they happen, they feel surprising every time. Not even the promos can ruin the twists and the shock because the producers do an excellent job keeping viewers on their toes, whether sending a bachelor or bachelorette home or the jaw-dropping finale bombshells.
Colton Hopping The Fence
Though the clip was overused in promo and sneak peaks throughout his entire season, Colton's fence jump and the context of it was still a shock when it aired. When asked about the crazy night in Bachelor history, ICareAboutThings25 commented, "My gut reaction to that question is always Colton jumping the fence. That was wild."
It turns out this was Colton's way of checking out and trying to ditch the production out of anger and hurt. It was a high fence and, therefore, a pretty impressive jump, and seeing it play out was still dramatic no matter how many times the clip was shown prior.
Brad Picking No One...His First Time Around
Brad Womack, the only man to have been on The Bachelor twice, made an interesting decision his first season by sending both of the final women home, or as Redditor Candleburnig puts it, "Brad 1.0 picking no one."
He dumped both Jenni Croft and DeAnna Pappas, who were both completely blindsided, especially learning he hadn't ended up with anyone at all. It's such a memorable moment in Bachelor Nation history that Brad was highlighted in an episode of The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons Ever!, the show's solution to halting production during the lockdown.
Clayton's Far-Too-Late Group Breakup
On the most recent season of The Bachelor, Clayton delivered one of the most dramatic finales the show has seen in a while, but one of the most surprising twists is when he has the audacity to break up with both the amazing Rachel Recchia and the fun-loving Gabby Windey at the same time after essentially begging them, or at least Gabby, to stay at the end of a horrific rose ceremony the night before.
When asked about crazy nights in Bachelor Nation, KitchenCommittee1827 comments, "Crazier than Clayton's group breakup?" One of the women even called it to Clayton's face in an effort to point out to him how ridiculous it was. It was a beyond strange, lazy choice, and he could have spoken to them both separately.
A Contestant And Crew Member Getting Together While Filming Bachelor In Paradise
In addition to The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise brings drama to Bachelor Nation almost every year and got off to a strong start in season 1.
Contestant Michelle Kujawa hit it off with the show's audio technician, Ryan Putz. To avoid getting busted by producers when he was in her hotel room, Ryan jumped off the balcony which resulted in injuries and had him in the hospital. Redditor gfchickennuggets re this fondly, saying, "(The show) did an amazing reenactment of the whole thing."
Clare Ending Her Season Very Early
The Clare Crawley season of The Bachelorette had more build up and hype than most since it's the season that got put on hold by the pandemic while production figured out how the show could be filmed safely. No one was more ready for the season to start than Clare, which was incredibly clear once her season began airing.
On the Reddit thread about the craziest Bachelor Nation nights, Proper-Emu1558 comments, "Dale proposing to Clare after like two episodes was a big one." Clare was raring to go and found exactly what she wanted fast in Dale Moss, and though the two are no longer together, fans the shock of their getting together.
Blake Horstmann As A Paradise Villain
One of the wildest falls from grace that Bachelor Nation has seen is the fall of Blake Horstmann, from being the beloved runner-up on Becca's season of The Bachelorette to the play boy of Bachelor In Paradise season 6.
Blake captured hearts when he cried over Becca but rubbed people the wrong way when he was on the beach with Kristina Shulman and Caelynn Miller-Keyes, both of whom he'd hooked up with. Words123454321 primarily re the drama when commenting "I don’t even who it was but the guy who slept with everyone at stagecoach."
Nick Viall's Time On Kaitlyn Bristowe's Season
While both Nick Viall and Kaitlyn Bristowe are now most known for their respective podcasts "Viall Files" and "Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe" that cover Bachelor Nation recaps and more, their drama still lives rent-free in the minds of Bachelor Nation.
Fans like PlayCertain4875 were shocked when "Nick Viall returned on (Kaitlyn's) season, and they had sex pre-Fantasy suites." The show has become more sex positive since season 11 in 2015, and it took this season to get there, with both Kaitlyn and Nick taking a lot of heat in the process. At the end of the day, Kaitlyn and Nick walked so people like Katie and Blake could run.
Jason's Switch From Melissa To Molly
Jason Mesnick was the first single parent to be a Bachelor Nation show lead, followed later by fan favorite Emily Maynard and then Juan Pablo. It's easy for viewers to get behind a single parent looking for love, which made the twist ending of his season of The Bachelor even more surprising.
Pfiggypudding says, "when Jason dumped Melissa for molly on TV," as the craziest Bachelor Nation night. After initially ending up with Melissa Rycroft, the two officially broke it off on "After The Final Rose," and then, Jason asked Molly Malaney out, which worked out. They are still a happy couple, married with kids.
Arie Dumping Becca And Proposing To Lauren On "After The Final Rose"
Following pretty closely in Jason Mesnick's switcheroo footsteps was Arie Luyendyk Jr., the lead for The Bachelor season 22. Arie originally proposed to fan favorite Becca Kufrin, only to end their engagement on camera, in what the show aired as an "unedited" breakup that they played during "After The Final Rose."
Arie made it even more interesting, proposing to Lauren in front of the audience that night, which Arie and Lauren are happily married with kids, and Becca also got a happy ending with Thomas and their dogs.
Barb Cam And Every Other Crazy Turn In Peter's "After The Final Rose"
Bachelor Nation would be hard-pressed to think of a wilder night than the "After the Final Rose" of Peter Weber's season, The Bachelor's season 24. The show's star was Peter's mother Barbara, who made it incredibly clear that she was unhappy with Peter's choice to pull a Jason/Arie-esque switch and dump fiancée/underserving winner Hannah Ann for runner-up Maddie Prewett.
Redditor browartist simply re the "Barb cam" and all the drama that came with it. The show had a cam on Barb and kept it in the corner for audiences to see her reactions to most of the episode, and it was absolutely insane. It was wildly entertaining to see a Bachelor be in the thick of it with so many women at once, including his own mother.
