Unlocking Balduran’s Giantslayer in best Legendary Weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3. Due to its weapon category, Balduran’s Giantslayer is one of the best pieces of gear for certain classes.
Paladins, Fighters, and Barbarians that equip the Legendary weapon and are proficient with greatswords will likely increase their overall damage output when battling, while also being able to increase their own size for even more damage and health points. Origin characters like Lae’zel or Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3 are the most likely to benefit from having it equipped. Balduran’s Giantslayer may be an optional piece of loot, hidden in the depths of Wyrm's Rock Prison, but everything it provides makes it a necessity for characters that utilize Strength as their main Ability.

Baldur's Gate 3: Should You Free Orpheus In BG3 Or Side With The Emperor?
One of the many choices faced in Baldur's Gate 3 involves freeing Orpheus or siding with the Emperor in Act 3, and then living with the consequences.
Where To Find Balduran’s Giantslayer In Baldur’s Gate 3
Its Location Is In Wyrmway
To unlock Balduran’s Giantslayer, you will first have to make it to Act 3. This Legendary weapon cannot be obtained by any means before you arrive in the third and final Act of the game. For reference, Act 3 starts as soon as you conclude the story in the Shadow-Cursed Lands and leave Moonrise Towers behind, either helping in its restoration or leaving it to its doom. After starting, you will have to continue through the story a little bit more, as Balduran’s Giantslayer is not available as early on as Nyrulna in Baldur’s Gate 3, another powerful Legendary weapon.
As highlighted by disabled the Steel Watch in Baldur’s Gate 3, however, these characters will be hostile against you and your party, and you will have to fight your way through.
Once you enter the prison section itself, you will need to find the Wyrmway, a subsection that is where the Balduran’s Giantslayer greatsword can be obtained. To get there, Game8 mentions that you should turn left from where you arrived and cast lightning-based spells on the two dragon-like torches. You will know you have succeeded when these torches burn with blue fire and reveal a secret age into the Wyrmway. Inside it, you will be presented with four challenges: the Chamber of Justice, the Chamber of Courage, the Chamber of Strategy, and the Chamber of Insight in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How To Solve Wyrmway Chamber Puzzles In Baldur’s Gate 3
The Solution To Four Chamber Puzzles
The challenges are, essentially, puzzles with different solutions. You can solve them in whichever order you see fit. In the Chamber of Justice, you will have to understand the story told by the paintings, which are Shrouded under the effect of a Curse, and then rearrange them so that the story makes sense. The solution to this is casting Remove Curse on the painting closest to the statue, looting it, and then placing it on the empty pedestal. For reference, the correct painting’s name in Baldur’s Gate 3 is The Cell.
In the Chamber of Courage, you will be submitted to a test of might. The goal is to survive four full turns of combat against a group of enemies, composed of Myrmidons and Water Elementals. Other than surviving, you do not have to do much – it is recommended that you eliminate as many foes as possible, as this will reduce the damage your characters take and, thus, increase your odds of ing the challenge in the Chamber of Courage in Baldur’s Gate 3. Once the four rounds are completed, all enemies will be destroyed and you will have ed.
The Chamber of Strategy will present you with a challenge of wits: destroy the Black King on the chessboard in only two moves. As demonstrated by Game8, the puzzle’s solution consists of moving the White Queen to H6 and destroying a Pawn, which will force the Black King to relocate to G8 to avoid the check. You should then move the White Queen to G7, destroying another Pawn and getting a checkmate on your target. Game8 also highlights that, instead of playing the mini-game, you can destroy the Black King in Baldur’s Gate 3 by attacking it with lightning spells.
The Chamber of Insight will present upon you three ghosts, one of which is considered an enemy of the city. The solution lies in the nearby library, where there are some flying books. These books contain the answer as to which one of the ghosts is your target. You can read these books by throwing a simple object at them or, as described by Game8, casting Sleep on them. Once you read these books, you will understand that Suelto is the ghost you need to destroy to the Chamber of Insight’s puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Avoid throwing weapons at the books, as they can destroy the very items you need to read.
Beat Ansur To Obtain Balduran’s Giantslayer In Baldur’s Gate 3
Undead Dragon Is One Of Toughest Bosses
Once you have concluded all four challenges in the Wyrmway, you will unlock another subsection called the Dragon Sanctum. Its doors can be opened by interacting with the nearby statue. This will grant you access to the fight with Ansur, the Heart of the Gate. This is one of the hardest boss fights in Baldur’s Gate 3, so it is best if you go in topped up on HP and with reliable gear. Ansur is a giant undead dragon that presents itself at level 17. In Balanced mode, it has 400 HP, while Tactician mode grants it 600 HP.
Ansur is resistant to magical and non-magical Necrotic damage, while also being completely immune to Poison and Lightning damage.
To beat it, you should bring some heavy hitters who are capable of eliminating big chunks of Ansur’s HP as quickly as possible. Using Arrow of Dragon Slaying with at least one character is a great strategy – if you combine this with an Assassin’s Sneak Attack (Ranged), for instance, then you will be able to deal a lot of damage with a single round. The fight is mostly straightforward, but Ansur is powerful, so you should not underestimate this encounter. Once you beat Ansur, you can loot its body and claim Balduran’s Giantslayer in Baldur’s Gate 3.
The Helm of Balduran, a Legendary piece of armor, can be found on an altar, behind Ansur.
