Baldur's Gate 3 is packed full of fantastic and powerful items to aid the party on their journey to save the world. While some of these have some cool magical effects, others are incredibly powerful and verging on broken. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though, when it comes to taking down mind flayers, cultists, and the occasional devil.

Having the right gear in an RPG is essential and Baldur's Gate 3 is no different. There are powerful items scattered throughout all three acts, which will help the party as they reach the final battle at the end of Baldur's Gate 3. Whether it be the sheer amount of buffs an item gives its or an unintended side effect of having it in the party inventory, these powerful items are all a little broken in the best possible way.

Baldur's Gate 3 is imposing in stature and its best moments are truly memorable, but some early issues with scale suggest an uneven experience.

10 Elven Chain

The Elven chain armor from Baldur's Gate 3

Elven Chain is an item straight out of Dungeons & Dragons, and those familiar with the armor will be aware of why it is so sought after. This gorgeous-looking medium armor can be found in the Rivington General store, sold by the vendor Exxvikyap. The armor has an AC of 14 and grants +2 to Initiative rolls and advantage on Dexterity saving throws. All of this is pretty standard; however, what sets the Elven Chain apart is that it grants a character proficiency in medium armor while they wear it. This makes it perfect for squishier spellcasters like Gale and Wyll, letting them have a much better AC without having to take a feat.

9 Warped Headband Of Intellect

The towering ogre Lump the Enlightened looks at the camera hungrily in Baldur's Gate 3

In the Blighted Village, there is an oddly eloquent ogre named Lump the Enlightened, and should he be killed by the party, then the source of his intelligence will be revealed. Lump will drop the Warped Headband of Intellect, an uncommon magic item that immediately sets the wear's Intelligence score to 17. This is fantastic for characters will lower Intelligence as it will mean fewer failed Investigation, Arcana, or History checks.

However, where it really shines is if someone is planning to play as a specific build or subclass, like Eldritch Knight, for example. Here, the trade-off between Strength, Constitution, and Intelligence for spellcasting can be ignored. Points can safely be put into Strength and Constitution at character creation with the knowledge that this headband will more than make up for a low Intelligence score early in Act One.

8 Adamantine Armor (Scale And Splint)

The Adamantine Forge is a location found in the Underdark at the very end of Act One. This unique place allows several weapons to be crafted, along with a shield and two sets of armor. However, the party will have to choose carefully as there are limited resources, so knowing which are the best is important.

Here, both sets of armor are fantastic, with Scale Mail for medium armor or Splint for heavy armor. Both sets reduced all incoming damage, with the Scale Mail reducing it by one and the Splint by two. Both send enemies Reeling when they hit the wearer with an attack, and most importantly, both make the wearer immune to critical hits.

7 Blade Of Oppressed Souls

Blade of Oppressed Souls item details in Baldur's Gate 3

The Blade of Oppressed Souls is a hard-to-find longsword that deals extra psychic damage to enemies. This rare sword is found in the Mind Flayer Colony at the end of Act Two in the Necrotic Laboratory. After completing a puzzle involving a brain-like structure, the sword can be found impaled in the ground next to the Waking Mind brain in a jar. The Blade of Oppressed Souls does 1d4 psychic damage on top of its usual 1d10 (1d8)+4 of slashing damage. It also has a unique weapon proficiency action, Crowning Strike, which deals 1d6+6 piercing damage plus six points of psychic damage and has the chance to inflict crown of madness on the target for three turns.

6 Amulet Of Lost Voices

Using Speak With Dead On Lae'zel in Baldur's Gate 3

The Amulet of Lost Voices will most likely be one of the first powerful magical items the party finds in Act One and is located in the Dank Crypt in a chest close to Withers' sarcophagus. This amulet lets the wearer cast speak with dead once per long rest, which may not sound too powerful or broken but actually unlocks tons of extra dialogue for the party. With this amulet, clues can be gathered more easily for certain quests and some enlightening encounters.

5 Victoria's Body

One of the strangest, brokenly powerful items in Baldur's Gate 3 is the corpse of a young girl named Victoria. Victoria can be found in Cazador's Palace in Act Three, and her body is intended as a trap for the party as her body deals large amounts of necrotic damage. However, she can also be picked up and carried around acting as a macabre AOE bomb, making poor Victoria one of Act Three's most broken secrets.

4 Markoheshkir

The inspect menu for Markoheshkir in Baldur's Gate 3.

Markoheshkir is one of the awesome legendary weapons in Baldur's Gate 3 and found in Ramazith's Tower during Act Three. This is an amazing, overpowered weapon for a spellcasting character as it has the feature Arcane Battery, letting the cast a spell without using a spell slot. Markoheshkir also has the spell Kereska's Favour, which lets the grant themselves resistance to a chosen element while also gaining two free spells using the same element.

3 Helldusk Armour

A player character wearing the Helldusk Armor in a forest setting. The armor features a horned mask, claws closing around the chest, and spiked pauldrons.

The Helldusk Armour is one of the best armors in the game and is dropped by Raphael during the fight in the House of Hope. Granting a whopping 21 AC, the armor also grants resistance to fire, and the wearer cannot take burning damage. When the wearer is forced to make a saving throw by a spell and succeeds, the armor makes the caster receive the burning condition for three rounds. As if that wasn't enough, the Helldusk Armour also makes the wearer take three less damage from all sources and gives access to the fly spell once per short rest.

2 Blood Of Lathander

Baldur's Gate 3 The Blood of Lathander Legendary Weapon.

The Blood of Lathander is an amazingly powerful weapon that can be found towards the end of Act One at the githyanki creche. This legendary mace deals a decent amount of damage, but it is its features that set it apart. The mace sheds holy light, and in combat, fiends and undead within the six meters are blinded. Once per long rest, the character wielding it gets Lathander's Blessing, which means that if they are reduced to zero hit points, they are healed, with close allies also receiving some hit points. As if that wasn't enough, the Blood of Lathander also gives access to sunbeam, which is sixth level spell dealing radiant damage and is fantastic against undead.
