Dammon is a very important NPC in Choices matter in Baldur's Gate 3; whether it results in the smallest possible impact, like a character learning a new move, or has grave results for everyone involved, every action has its consequences. There are missable moments and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that can be eliminated from the realm of possibility by a single, unlucky roll of the dice. Even so, lockouts are rarely permanent, and almost never come without ample warning; most often there's another way around or an unorthodox solution, even if it's not immediately clear.

Players meet Dammon, a tiefling blacksmith, at a refugee camp inhabited by tieflings and druids in Baldur's Gate 3. Their settlement is located in the Hollow region of the Emerald Grove, and is implied to be temporary; Dammon says he's only making do with poor equipment while his people are forced to be nomadic. Unfortunately for him, a party of goblins has designs on the camp, and is planning to raid it just as soon as they can find out where it is. The player party is faced with a choice of which side to take, and what they choose can impact Dammon's availability for the rest of the game.

Where To Find Dammon After Emerald Grove In Baldur's Gate 3

Dammon, a tiefling, stands before a rock wall. He looks to his right and appears to be listening to someone intently.

In act two of Baldur's Gate 3, Dammon can be found at the Last Light Inn - as long as the player sided with the tieflings and druids against the goblins, that is. The Last Light Inn is located beyond the Shadow-Cursed Lands, and is the site of many major quests. However, none of the refugees will make it there alive if the player sides with the goblins. But if the player warns the people of Emerald Grove and fights by their side, they'll triumph over the goblins, and Dammon will move on to the inn. And if he's still alive in act three, Dammon moves onward again and sets up shop in Baldur's Gate at the Forge of the Nine.

What Dammon Does In Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur's Gate 3 Barbarian Origin character Karlach, a female tiefling with a battleaxe on her back.

As a blacksmith, Dammon plays several important roles in Baldur's Gate 3. He sells equipment and weapons, and can also repair any damaged items. More importantly, though, he's essential to Karlach's side quest.

Karlach is one of ten recruitable companions in Baldur's Gate 3, and can also be chosen as an Origin character in lieu of creating a custom one. She's a tiefling barbarian who escaped from the Nine Hells, but not unscathed; she still has an Infernal Engine embedded in her chest. However, it's severely damaged, and there are very few smiths who know how to work the Infernal Iron it's built out of. Enter Dammon, a talented tiefling metalworker who asks only that the party gather the necessary materials for him to perform the repairs. Infernal Iron is rare, but he only needs two pieces - there's more than enough scattered throughout the world to repair Karlach's heart and still have some left over to make a bit of armor.

Even though there's a great deal of freedom within the game, it's fairly easy to get locked out of certain options, like Dammon's smithy and Karlach's quest. As a result, choices like who to side with in the goblin raid should never be taken lightly. It's impossible to know what will come back to bite later down the line in Baldur's Gate 3.
