Playing as a druid in Baldur's Gate 3 gives the ability to Wild Shape, letting the character turn into some really cool animal forms. Properly learning to use these Wild Shapes will let any druid character perform a variety of roles for the party, from tank to scout to crowd control. Transforming into various beasts to explore Faerûn is really fun and one of the main reasons to play as a druid.

There are currently three druid circles to choose from in Baldur's Gate 3, with Circle of the Moon being the best druid subclass as it lets Wild Shape be used as a bonus action rather than an action. Circle of the Moon druids also get access to additional forms than the other subclasses, opening up more possibilities in combat and exploration. While all 15 of the Wild Shape forms have their pros and cons, some are just a little cooler than others.

10 Dire Raven

Baldur's Gate 3 Dire Raven Wild Shape flies in place in camp.

Available at level four is the Dire Raven, which on top of looking super goth, is great for scouting hard-to-reach places. As one of the smaller Wild Shape forms, the Dire Raven has a decent amount of hit points and can defend itself by pecking at enemies as well as blind them. But what makes the Dire Raven awesome is that it can fly, with a speed of 60 feet, and get to places other creatures and enemies can't reach.

9 Wolf

Baldur's Gate 3 Wolf Wild Shape stands in camp

One of the earliest forms for druids at level two, the Wolf is a great early-game damage dealer, especially if not playing as Circle of the Moon. As well as looking gorgeous, the Wolf form has some pretty good attacks, with Exposing Bite guaranteeing critical hits for the next attack and Inciting Howl increasing the whole party's movement speed. Best of all, though, is that the Wolf has Pack Tactics, which is a great ive ability that gives the druid advantage on attack rolls when they have an ally close to the target enemy.

8 Bear

Baldur's Gate 3 Bear Wild Shape gets ready to attack

The Bear form is the earliest Circle of the Moon exclusive Wild Shape and is one of the best tanking options for druids early on. The Bear Wild Shape in Baldur's Gate 3 looks like a polar bear and certainly plays as sturdy as it appears. With 30 hit points and the Goading Roar ability, the Bear form can get all enemies within range to focus on the druid leaving ranged party to pick them off.

7 Spider

Baldur's Gate 3 Spider Wild Shape waits in camp

While it won’t be fun for anyone with arachnophobia, the Spider form, also available at level two, is a pretty cool choice both in and out of combat. As one might expect from a Spider, the Wild Shape form has the ability to shoot web at enemies and the ground, which is great for preventing fall damage, and also has a poisonous bite attack for extra damage. However, one of the best and often overlooked features of the Spider form is its Arachinid Jump which has an awesome range of 37 feet and lets the druid jump up, down, and across large areas letting the Spider jump up onto high spots to use Enweb for great crowd control.

6 Panther

Baldur's Gate 3 Panther Wild Shape prowls around camp

Unlocked at level six is the Panther Wild Shape, which on top of looking amazing, has some cool features. The Panther is great in combat with the ability to pounce on targets and knock them prone, then deal extra damage with a Jugular Strike. However, the Panther works best as a stealthy scout, as the druid in Panther form can turn invisible. This is extra useful when going into situations that will inevitably end in combat, as the druid can be positioned behind enemies, ready to pounce when initiative is rolled.

5 Deep Rothé

Baldur's Gate 3 Deep Rothé Wild Shape wanders around camp

One of the level four Wild Shapes is the strange-looking Deep Rothé. The Deep Rothé is really cool looking but not as tanky as its large form would suggest, with only 23 hit points. However, what the Deep Rothé does very well is barreling into groups of enemies to deal damage with its Charge ability. This is great as the druid can target one enemy at the back of a group, then charge, hitting all hostile targets along that path, with the possibility of knocking them prone.

4 Sabre-Toothed Tigers

Baldur's Gate 3 Sabre-Toothed Tiger Wild Shape prepares to attack

At level eight, Circle of the Moon druids get to turn into Sabre-Toothed Tigers, and it's as cool as it sounds. This form has a decent amount of hit points, 62 to be exact, and the Jugular Strike attack, just like the Panther form. But what makes this incredible-looking Wild Shape stand out is its Shred Armor attack that not only deals damage but reduces the target's AC by one for two turns.

3 Elemental Myrmidons

The four Baldur's Gate 3 Elemental Myrmidons Wild Shapes of Air, Water, Fire and Earth

At level 10, Circle of the Moon druids get to turn into four different elemental forms. The Earth, Air, Water, and Fire Myrmidons are amazingly cool to look at and each comes with their own elemental-based abilities. Stand-out features are the Earth Myrmidon's tank ability, Muck to Metal, which increases the druid's AC by two, and the Water Myrmidon's Healing Vapours, which acts as a large AOE healing spell. With four to choose from and each covering a particular role in the party, it’s easy for the Myrmidon forms to be used in place of some of the other earlier Wild Shapes.

2 Dilophosaurus

Baldur's Gate 3 Dilophosaurus Wild Shape struts around camp

Also unlocked at level 10 for all druids is the Dilophosaurus Wild Shape form, and let's face it, who doesn't want to be a dinosaur? This is one of the coolest looking Wild Shapes in Baldur's Gate 3 and has a Pounce attack to leap at enemies and knock them prone. But the best attack for the Dilophosaurus Wild Shape is its Corrosive Spit which deals 3d8 acid damage and slowly melts away the target's AC, reducing it by one each turn to a maximum of -5.

1 Owlbear

Baldur's Gate 3 Owlbear Wild Shape stands proudly in camp

Unlocked at level six is the iconic Owlbear, and with 65 hit points, this massive form can easily act as both a tank and damage dealer. The Owlbear form has several great attacks, such as Rupture, which smashes into the ground to deal damage to nearby enemies, and Enrage, which increases the druid's Strength by two and makes nearby enemies fearful, which imposes disadvantage on their attack rolls and ability checks. However, what makes the Owlbear the best Wild Shape for druids in the game is its Crushing Flight ability which lets the druid leap a whopping 70 feet at enemies to deal damage and knock them prone, making the Owlbear the coolest Wild Shape in Baldur’s Gate 3.
