East of the Emerald Grove is a path leading to a beach where a young tiefling boy is being charmed by harpies. After fighting the harpies, go around the main outcropping where they were first spotted. There is a chest in the water, but continue past that to the next area of rocks, jump across the water, and follow the pathway up to the hill. At the top, the character will need to jump across to get to the harpy nest, which will contain a note, a journal, and some randomized treasure, along with the Ring of Colour Spray.

The party discover buried treasure on the cliffs in Baldur's Gate 3.

When returning to the Grove from the harpy beach, almost at the top of the path, the party will notice two pillars sticking up between the rocky cliffs. These pillars can be used to jump across, and when finding treasure like this, it's best to use characters with high strength, as they have better jump distances.

On the other side, there is a chest that can be dug up, and don't worry if the character fails their Perception check, as chests can still be dug up if the area is selected manually with the shovel. Inside is some randomized loot and some gold, which is very handy at early levels in Baldur's Gate 3.

8 Buried Treasure In Goblin Camp

Location in the Goblin Camp of buried chest in Baldur's Gate 3.

The Goblin Camp is a great place to find lots of great gear and loot for the party. When heading in with the door to the Shattered Sanctum immediately ahead, turn left and head up a ladder. This will lead to a small balcony with paintings, pots, and a couple of chairs. After snagging the paintings, which can be sold for a pretty decent profit, the party should head to the end of the balcony. There, the party will find a buried chest containing randomized loot to be dug up.

While still in the Goblin Camp, head to the other side of the main courtyard, where there is a gap in the stone wall. There are some goblins and a locked chest here, but past them is a ladder. Once down the ladder, follow the path to the right, which leads the party under the bridge.

Behind the waterfall is a cragged rock that can be climbed to reveal a small cave. There is a trip wire guarding a note from a love-sick goblin to Minthara and a locked crude chest containing camp supplies, poison, gold, a greataxe, and an Elixer of Arcane Cultivation, which can give a spellcaster a level one spell slot back when drunk.

6 Attic Above The Blacksmith Forge

Rippling Force Mail is found in the attic in Baldur's Gate 3.

Once the party arrives in the Shadowlands and heads to the Last Light Inn, they should make sure to stop by the forge where Dammon the Emerald Grove’s blacksmith has set up shop. Up the stairs to the left of Dammon’s forge is an attic area with a locked rustic chest. Inside the chest is the Rippling Force Mail, a piece of heavy armor with 17 AC and Force Absorption, which allows the wearer to gain Force Conduit when taking piercing, slashing, or bludgeoning damage. Force Conduit builds to five stacks before dealing 1d4 force damage when hit.

5 Body Under The Rubble

Location of a hidden body beneath rubble in Baldur's Gate 3

Coming out of the attic and down the other side of Dammon’s forge, the party can cross a bridge and leave the Last Light Inn. The bridge is trapped, so be careful, but at the end of the bridge is a set of torches. Climbing up the rocks and ing a perception check will reveal a pile of stones. A character with high Strength will be needed to move them, and underneath is a dead Flaming Fist soldier with the Shield of Scorching Reprisal. This rare shield gives a +2 to AC and grants resistance to fire damage.

4 Chest On A Rooftop

Traveler's Chest On Roof in Baldur's Gate 3.

When leaving the Last Light Inn via the main bridge, turn left and head northwest slightly. Eventually, the party will spot a raven on the ground near a ruined house. Interacting with it will summon 12 shadow-cursed ravens that will attack. After defeating the ravens, it is possible to jump up onto the roof of the house and find a traveler’s chest. The chest is locked with a DC 10 lockpicking needed, and inside is randomized loot.

3 Easily Missed Chest In House In Deep Shadows

The Ring of Mental Inhibition is found in a hidden chest in Baldur's Gate 3.

The House in Deep Shadows is located close to the Shadowed Battlefield waypoint, to the left and around a corner. This is also where Oliver can be found and played with as part of Halsin's quest. However, what is often missed is that inside the house is a locked wooden chest with the Ring of Mental Inhibition in it. The ring is great for debuffing enemies as they will gain -1 to their Wisdom, Charisma, and Intelligence, saving throws each turn for two turns.

2 Hidden Enemies At A Chicken Coop

A chicken coop with a dead body hides a secret ring in Baldur's Gate 3.

Directly south of the Last Light Inn is a small area with a chicken coop, a dead true soul, and a circle of magic torches. To find this hidden treasure, the party will need to destroy the torches by using melee or ranged weapon attacks, as magic and water don't work. This will make a pack of shadow mastiffs appear, and after a difficult fight, the party should loot the Shadow Mastiff Alpha.

The pack leader is carrying the Shadow-Cloaked Ring, which makes the wearer's weapon and unarmed attacks deal an extra 1d4 damage in lightly or heavily obscured enemies and against creatures made of shadow, making it useful when fighting in the Shadowlands.

1 Rare Dagger Found In Hole

The Stillmaker dagger found in a hole in a cave full of bodies in Baldur's Gate 3.

Finally, in Act Three, in the town of Rivington, there is an entrance to a cave under the bridge at the South Span Checkpoint. This is the cave the party will head to when investigating the murder at the Open Hand Temple. However, what is easily missed is a hole close to the cave entrance when coming in from the bridge. Inside this hole is the very rare Stillmaker dagger, which deals decent damage and grants the character the hold person spell, which is fantastic for crowd control in difficult fights in Baldur’s Gate 3.
