Once you long rest after arriving in the Lower City for the first time, Orin will appear disguised as the member of the party she has captured. She will only take someone from camp who is not one of your immediate party companions in Baldur's Gate 3. Look For The Muder God's Faithful

The first step to rescuing Orin's victim is to find out where Bhaal's champion has made their lair in the Lower City, which happens to be a Temple dedicated to the god of murder. This corrupted location can be difficult to reach, as players of previous Baldur's Gate titles may . You need to investigate the sewers underneath the city to reach a locked door leading to the place where Orin's followers reside.

This door exists in the Undercity area, which you can travel into further by shooting down a hanging corpse bleeding onto a circular stone altar. Doing this unlocks the way forward, where you'll have to face a series of dangerous cultists in Manslaughter Chasm. Defeating these foes will lead you to another locked door, this time blocking the way directly into the Temple of Bhaal.

From here, you can only enter the Temple if you have the Act 3 in Baldur's Gate 3, there are many secrets to uncover as you explore the city and interact with various characters. At this point, you may want to consider an offer by Orin that could ensure your friend's safety before entering the Temple.

Should You Take Orin's Deal To Save Her Victim?

When Orin takes away someone you know, she offers you a deal - kill Gortash and take his Netherstone before facing Orin in a battle to the death. Gortash prevented Orin from being able to harm him the moment the Chosen Three came together, so she is unable to take the artifact he holds. You could choose to disable the Steel Watch in Baldur's Gate 3 that defends Gortash and attack him first before facing Orin.

You can pursue this deal at any time since the only agreement is to go after Gortash instead of Orin first. There are no consequences for taking your time to eliminate Gortash, so you should take the deal so that your party can level up before facing Bhaal's champion. This also lets you enter the Temple of Bhaal faster through a clue given by Orin when Gortash is dead in Baldur's Gate 3.

Those who choose not to take Orin's deal can instead pursue the side quest behind solving the Open Hand Temple murders to discover another way to enter the Temple of Bhaal. Check out this video by ZaFrostPet to see the steps behind that process:

Agreeing to Orin's deal and killing Gortash will lead to her sending your party a note congratulating you on your victory. Orin's next request is to face the Murder Tribunal full of Bhaal-worshiping cultists and become an Unholy Assassin to Bhaal himself. She'll direct you toward a place named Candulhallow's Tombstones in Baldur's Gate 3 and give you the "Sicarius" to open the way forward to the Tribunal.

Those who choose to kill Gortash can present his severed hand to the NPC That Which Guards to enter the Murder Tribunal. This host of deadly Bhaal cultists is ruled by Sarevok Anchev, a legendary Bhaalspawn who presides over this blood-lusting council. Some dialogue checks need to be ed to convince Sarevok of mutual loyalty to Bhaal to receive the Amulet of Bhaal that opens the god's Temple.

You can choose to attack Sarevok and his council to take the Amulet without becoming an Assassin, but this can be one of the hardest fights in the game unless you are truly prepared.

Sarevok will make you confront many spirits of the dead to prove you have the soul of a killer. Afterward, he will present you with the hollyphant investigator, Valeria, as someone to kill in the name of Bhaal. Doing this will anoint you as an Unholy Assassin in Baldur's Gate 3 and reward you with the Amulet needed to open the Temple of Bhaal and confront Orin, who still has her victim at her mercy.

How To Prevent Orin From Killing Her Victim

Complete The Deal Or A Risky Check

Baldur's Gate 3 Orin the Red about to kill kidnapped victim in the Temple of Bhaal before boss fight in Act 3

Heading back to the Undercity with the Amulet of Bhaal will let you enter the Temple, where Orin still threatens to kill her victim, no matter what choices you make. The dialogue here is crucial, as it will decide your friend's fate in Baldur's Gate 3. Success revolves around careful rolls for Charisma-based checks, so try to start talking to Orin with a character who has the highest score for this ability.

If Gortash is dead first, you can simply confirm to Orin his fate once again and your agreement to her deal. This will automatically save her victim and start the boss fight she insisted upon before in Baldur's Gate 3. However, those who choose to talk to Orin must a DC 25 Intimidation, Deception, or Persuasion check to convince Bhaal's most obsessed follower to begin fighting while ignoring the victim.

Those playing as the Dark Urge origin have special dialogue options that could distract Orin from the victim before the fight. Similarly, if you use Speak with Dead on Orin's mother earlier, you unlock new conversation lines that also take Orin's attention away from your friend.

Any methods taken to save Orin's victim starts a battle to the death against her Level 12 Slayer form, a hideous monster that fights alongside several cultists. This battle can be a grueling one, so try to free the abducted character from the Temple's altar during the fight. This will permanently rescue Orin's victim in Baldur's Gate 3 and allow them to fight at your side within the Temple of Bhaal.

Rewards From Completing The "Rescue Orin's Victim" Quest

Grab The Last Netherstone And Keep Your Party Intact

Obviously, the most important reward for finishing the "Rescue Orin's Victim" quest successfully is getting your party member back. Using the Altar Key item to free the victim from the Temple's altar or simply breaking the chains will be enough to fulfill this mission's final requirement. Managing to defeat Orin the Red in Baldur's Gate 3 will also let you collect the final Netherstone if you choose to kill Gortash first.

Orin drops a ton of loot that's worth collecting, especially if the victim you rescued was someone who could use some of her weapons or armor. The Bloodthirst dagger and Crimson Mischief short sword are both great examples of this, alongside the Mutilated Carapace magical clothing. Orin also has some Studded Leather Armor +2 and the Ring of Murderous Opportunity as her loot items when beaten.

Anyone who fails to save Orin's victim can collect some loot from their fallen party member, which varies depending on who Orin kidnapped. That being said, the best-case scenario is having that companion alive in Baldur's Gate 3 to continue with you on new adventures.
