Baldur's Gate 3 has many hidden secrets that are easy to miss on a first playthrough. This is especially true for questlines that begin by finding an item or reading a particular book. Because there are plenty of both in every stage of the game, it can be hard to know which ones lead to side quests and which ones don't. However, digging for these secrets can lead to new ways to deal with characters, such as Kagha in Act 1.

Baldur's Gate 3 is divided into three acts, and each one has its own plot that feeds into the overall main story. Act 1 is centered on the druids and tiefling refugees who are being threatened by the goblins that are led by followers of the Absolute. In the meantime, Kagha is in charge of the Druids until Halsin, the First Druid, returns from his Goblin captivity.

A Hidden Chest Leads To An Investigation Of Kagha In Baldur's Gate 3

Kagha from the Emerald Grove in Baldur's Gate 3 during a dialogue cutscene

Kagha has a chest hidden behind books in the Emerald Grove, and unlocking it leads to a side quest that reveals that she has more motives for conducting the Rite of Thorns than simply kicking the tiefling refugees out of the area. Looting said chest isn't easy or obvious and can result in being caught, but the payoff is a long quest line unveiling a conspiracy against the grove.

It might not be among the most essential quests to complete before Act 2 in BG3, but it can make it worth creating a new game to explore small details like Kagha's chest that are easy to miss the first time around. Also, it's more satisfying to bring Kagha to justice while knowing that she's working with Shadow Druids and has ill intentions for the Grove overall, using Halsin's absence as an opportunity to seize power.

The hidden secrets in Act 1 of Baldur's Gate 3 alone make it worth replaying, and that's not even including the secrets that the other two acts have. There's a book that can give a free Necromancy spell, a hag, a Phase Spider Matriarch boss, rare items, and so many other secrets to find in Act 1 that can make the second playthrough more alive and fleshed out. Then, there are choices that lead to different narrative consequences to make playthroughs different from one another, and that doesn't include the variety of options that come in character creation and impact the game.

Baldur's Gate 3 has an overwhelming amount of content to explore, and a single playthrough isn't enough to get through it all. From secrets like Kagha's chest and affiliations to multiple romance options, the reasons to play through the game from the beginning again can seem endless. With content still being added through patches, and the potential for DLC that lingers over most popular games, an adventurer's journey may never be fully finished in Baldur's Gate 3.
