- Minthara's approval rating will reflect the decision to recruit her by knocking her out in Act 1.
- Players can romance and recruit Minthara by sparing her in Moonrise Towers and completing her rescue.
Recruiting characters and companions in Baldur's Gate 3 can be a challenge but one of the most bizarre workarounds to adding Minthara to Tav's party now makes a lot more sense in the context of the game. When it comes to working with the grumpy Paladin, players quickly learned that if they wanted to add Minthara to their team, killing her towards the end of a specific quest wasn't the way to do it. The alternative was to simply knock her out, an action that seemed like a bug since doing so allowed her to be recruited without consequence.
Per MossyMak on Reddit, that player-discovered glitch proved so popular that Larian Studios is making it an actual option in Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 7. One of the more overlooked update notes specifies that Minthara "will now react if you knock her out in Act 1," making her addition to the crew much more realistic. While it's currently unknown how Minthara will respond to being recruited in such a manner, it will likely also come with an approval rating that will reflect the decision rather than simply ignoring the incident like it never happened.

A Hidden Letter To Minthara In Baldur's Gate 3 Reveals A Tragic Love Story
Not only players have a crush on Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3, as a certain NPC is also in love with the drow paladin – though it is unrequited love.
Minthara Can Be A Difficult Character To Recruit
Most Will Likely Kill Her
Minthara serves as a major character in Baldur's Gate 3's first act, acting as the leader of the goblin army who is holding Halsin captive. Since she stands in direct conflict with Tav, most s will likely end up facing her as a boss encounter as they work to free the trapped Druid but with some careful maneuvering, it's possible to add Minthara as a companion and even romance her. To do so, players will have to conclude the boss fight by knocking her unconscious before continuing the story normally.
In Act 2, when the party heads to Moonrise Towers, with a few decent Wisdom Rolls, Tav will be able to convince Kethric to spare Minthara and let her rot in jail instead. After completing this step, venturing into the dungeon and dealing with the Questioners erasing her memories will provide an opportunity to free the Drow Paladin from captivity. Once this has been completed, players simply need to head back to camp for Minthara to thank them and sign up to the party.
Minthara is a valuable ally in Baldur's Gate 3, one capable of some massive combat moves that can turn the tide of battle. Her Soul Branding ability is exceptionally useful as it provides herself or allies additional movement and 2d4 + 1 Fire Damage on their next attack. Minthara may not be necessary to complete the game's story, but rescuing her is an especially memorable moment.

One Baldur’s Gate 3 Change Might Save You From Committing A Massacre
There's one terrifyingly good reason to unleash bloodshed in Baldur's Gate 3, but it looks like a change could render the violence unnecessary.
How To Romance Minthara In Baldur's Gate 3
The Enemies To Lovers Trope
While Minthara may start Baldur's Gate 3 as an adversary, with some To win Minthara's heart, players will need to increase her approval by behaving in a manner that she appreciates, a task that's easier said than done.
When it comes to what actions Minthara most enjoys, it's worth bearing in mind that she is a devout follower of The Absolute, meaning her motivations tend to be driven by what she believes will please the mysterious deity. Tav should express unwavering loyalty to The Absolute while also keeping it in mind when making any decisions; those who are playing a character who shies away from The Absolute will find it nearly impossible to romance Minthara. There are some other aspects to keep in mind: Minthara hates cowards and enjoys decisiveness, so these should be a top priority.

Baldur's Gate 3: How to Recruit Halsin and Minthara Together
Halsin and Minthara are meant to be mutually exclusive. But, doing Baldur’s Gate 3’s quests out of order results in them both ing the same team.
Could Minthara Return In The Future?
Wizards Of The Coast Approves
While Minthara has gained a decent following among the Baldur's Gate 3 community, many believe her character is far more limited than the other party . Aside from her encounter in Act 1 and potential rescue in Act 2, she doesn't really factor into the grander story and her addition to the party feels like the culmination of her character arc. Many have requested some kind of DLC or expansion to further delve into what becomes of Minthara after the events of Baldur's Gate 3 and while that's unlikely to happen, she could appear again in other ways.
Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that it's eager to see characters from Baldur's Gate 3 return in some way or another. Whether that's in a sequel to the video game or through licensed Dungeons & Dragons media, there's a chance Minthara's story could continue. Her popularity may not be enough to justify her appearance in a supplemental tabletop adventure or Baldur's Gate 4 but it's good to know that the door stands open.
Minthara is an undervalued member of Tav's party in Baldur's Gate 3 and while her motivations are no doubt initially suspicious, following the Drow Paladin's further adventures beyond the game could be compelling. Until something official is announced, players will simply have to craft their own stories. Such is the joy of playing something as expansive and accessible as Dungeons & Dragons.
