There might not be a great deal of overlap between voice acting talent with Neil Newbon, the actor who plays the silver-tongued vampire Astarion, even earning the award for Best Performance at the 2023 Game Awards. It should come as little surprise then that one of his best lines is an almost perfect impersonation of an iconic animated character voiced by Ferrell: Megamind.

Posted to Reddit by MRV3N, the shared a side-by-side comparison between Astarion and Megamind angrily bellowing the line, "...the full concentrated power of the sun!"

With the overlap, the similarity between the delivers is startling, and while it's currently unknown whether the Baldur's Gate 3 writers were intentionally trying to homage to Megamind, it's still a fun discovery for fans of the cult-classic animated movie. Most of the community believe it to be an intentional reference to the Dreamworks movie, speculating that the voice director specifically tasked Newbon with emulating the line.

While Baldur's Gate 3 may have launched into early access in 2020, the game's official 1.0 release in 2023 took the world by storm, earning an overwhelming amount of praise from fans and critics alike. Much has already been said about its compelling writing and flexible gameplay that encourages players to embrace the chaotic nature of Dungeons & Dragons and think outside the box. It proved so successful that Larian Studios' massive RPG ended up dominating the 2023 Game Awards, even taking home the coveted Game of the Year trophy.
