Warlock magic can be greatly amplified by multiclassing with Bard in Baldur’s Gate 3. Warlocks cast a few powerful spells at a time. By combining that with the College of Lore, the options and magical frequency greatly expand.

This Warlock build is best used for Tav, as they will typically be the main character talking to people. Wyll can use the build too, but if he isn’t going to speak directly, then consider the powerful Sorlock option. This has more combat firepower, but less versatility.

Character Creation

Get Started Early

Creating a level one warlock in Baldurs Gate 3

Both Warlock and Bard use Charisma as their casting ability, making it key for most of their moves. The two main racial options to consider are Halfling for Halfing Luck or Human for the bonus skill. The main starting skills to grab include Persuasion, Intimidation, and Acrobatics. Take Charlatan for the free Deception and Sleight of Hand.

Taking Bard or Warlock at first level is mostly for the common Saving Throws. Dexterity can help avoid a lot of damage, but Wisdom may prevent fully losing a turn or dying instantly. Overall, taking Bard first can be more useful. Weapon proficiency is mostly similar, and you will be using Eldritch Blast instead of ranged weapons.

Keeping Things Even

Combining Warlock with Bard in Baldurs Gate 3

After gaining second level, you will want to start getting some Warlock levels as you complete the campaign of Baldur’s Gate 3. However, you will want to switch back to Bard for a few other great features. Song of Rest is incredibly helpful as it lets you replenish Warlock spell slots without a Long Rest. You will constantly be weaving between both jobs to get key features, ultimately ending at Warlock 6/Bard 6.
