Batgirl Inherits Key Attributes From Every Member of the Bat-Family
Cassandra Cain Is the Perfect Combination of Batman's Vigilante Family
Cassandra Cain is widely referred to as the inducted into the Bat-Family. Thanks to her allegiance to Batman's various sidekicks and allies, Cassandra has picked up a number of skills, but the true strengths she's earned don't shine through in combat alone. DC Just Revived My Favorite Batgirl Superpower, Returning to the Best Version of the Character in Official Lore
I had officially lost hope that DC knew what they were doing with Batgirl, but the recent revival of her greatest superpower has restored my faith.
The traits that Batgirl has gained from each member of the Bat-Family correlate to her unique relationship with that character. For instance, all the Robins he's taken in - has taught her how to care for others in turn. Batgirl's Shared Traits With Gotham Heroes Prove She's the Ideal Batman Successor
Like Bruce Wayne, Cassandra Cain Has Become the Center of the Bat-Family
While Batgirl has picked up traits from every vigilante she's worked with in Gotham, the one she's learned the most from is Batman. Cassandra specifically mentions that she bears his pride, and that feature is on display through the pride she takes in bearing his iconic bat symbol and being part of the Bat-Family. Batman is the center of the Bat-Family, but Cassandra's connection to the family is the only one that comes remotely close to his. DC readers consider Cassandra Cain's Batgirl to be a top choice for no-kill rule. When the time comes for Batman to step down, Batgirl would immediately be accepted by her peers because they trust her enough to aid her development. Cassandra Cain taking on so many of Batman's attributes, in addition to the Bat-Family's, shows that they are her family in every way that matters - more so than her biological family.
Batgirl's Resemblance to the Bat-Family Proves They're Her True Family
Cassandra Cain Distances Herself From Her Mother With Her Bat-Family Bonds
Batgirl's connections with the entire Bat-Family serve as a means of distancing her further from Lady Shiva, her birth mother. Shiva's manipulative habits and assassin background put her in stark moral opposition to Batgirl, whose principles align with Batman's. She tries to convince Batgirl that she's an outcast in the Bat-Family, but Cassandra knows that she has inherited more from her chosen family than from Shiva. Cass herself states, "My mother is everything I am not." In contrast, Batgirl believes that she is the product of Batman and his allies' teachings, thus cementing herself as the Platonic ideal of a Bat-Family hero.
