In Detective Comics #1091 by Tom Taylor, Mikel Janín, and Wes Abbott, Batman wrestles with whether he should take a de-aging serum called Sangraal. Available only to the rich and powerful, Sangraal supposedly turns back the clock to make its s young again. After he's forced to it his age is becoming a problem, Batman agrees to let Sangraal's founder, Scarlett, ister the drug to him.

After undergoing his first treatment of Sangraal, Batman pays a visit to the Penguin's Iceberg Lounge to put his upgraded body to the test. Oswald Cobblepot's goons attack him, and he takes them out with newfound ease. This battle serves as a stark contrast to his earlier skirmish, as he can move freely without the aches that come with age. With Sangraal in his system, Batman fights with a vigor he hasn't known since his younger days, and his injured knee no longer gives him as much trouble either. The effects of the youth serum are already prevalent as it rewrites Batman's biological structure.

While the prospect of immortality may seem like an upside to taking Sangraal, Batman views it as a downside more than anything else. He confides in Superman about this possibility and asks how he deals with outliving those he cares about, hinting at a future where Batman and Superman outlive most of the characters around them. Now that he has taken Sangraal, time will tell whether Batman truly has overhauled his biology to become immortal.
