Warning: Spoilers for Justice Society of America #5The long-lost daughter of Batman, Helena Wayne's Huntress is finally returning to the main canon of the DC Universe. Helena was re-introduced to the DC Universe through the new Justice Society of America series, where Huntress is transported through time to find a missing Doctor Fate and save the JSA from impending destruction courtesy of Degaton. Eventually, her journey leads her to meet a younger version of her father in his prime.

Naturally, Huntress is compelled to bring her father up to speed on everything in Justice Society of America #5 by Geoff Johns, Mikel Janin, Jerry Ordway, Jordie Bellaire, John Kalisz, Rob Leigh, Marquis Draper, Andrew Marino, and Katie Kubert. Not only does she tell him of Degaton's plans with time, but she also warns Batman of his death. Batman immediately recognizes that his learning of this information puts Helena's future in jeopardy. He's proven right later, as when Degaton is defeated and the other heroes return to their timelines, Helena is the only one stuck where she is because she no longer has a future to go to.

Huntress is Back in the Main DC Canon

Batman's daughter Helena Wayne Huntress no longer has a future-1

Helena Wayne is the Huntress of Earth-2, the daughter of Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle. In her world, her father is killed by a common criminal who acquires powers from sorcerer Frederic Vaux in hopes of enacting revenge on a man he believes to have wronged him, Bruce Wayne. When older, Helena dons the mask of Catwoman and the cape of Batman to become her own hero, Huntress, and a member of the Justice Society of America. Following Crisis on Infinite Earths, this version of Huntress was lost to time in favor of Helena Bertinelli (who isn't related to Batman or Catwoman). Now, though, thanks in large part to Doctor Manhattan's warping with continuity, Helena Wayne is on Prime Earth, now within the main canon of DC. However, it doesn't appear as though Batman wants her there.

Huntress' Future Remains Uncertain in More Ways Than One

Batman's daughter Helena Wayne Huntress no longer has a future-2

For multiple reasons, Huntress' existence in DC's main canon now complicates things for Batman in more ways than one. It's not just in of how continuity and time is concerned, but also because Batman must adjust some things in his own life now that he has a time-displaced daughter to worry about. For now at least, it's unclear if Batman thinks "she can't stay here" due to the time/continuity complications or because he actually doesn't want her there.

In addition, with this issue marking the end of this arc in the series, it's unclear what the future holds for Huntress. She's in a similar predicament as Connor Kent found himself in not too long ago. Conner was stranded outside of DC's main continuity following the Convergence event, and now that he's returned, no one re who he is. As a result, Superboy struggles to find a place within the Superman family and one may assume that Huntress may run into the same problems within the Bat-Family. Only time will tell, but ironically, time is exactly the issue for Huntress.
