Warning: spoilers ahead for Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #5!
In the latest issue of DC's Zero Point.
In prior issues of Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point from Donald Mustard, Christos N. Gage, Reilly Brown, Nelson Faro DeCastro, and John Kalisz, Batman and his new squad managed to find a means into the secure tunnels and facilities used by the shadowy figures who are abducting warriors from throughout the multiverse to take part in their deadly tournament. However, the end of the last issue saw the death of Fishstick, confirming that the team has a traitor in their midst.
Sure enough, Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #5 sees Deathstroke betray the team when they discover the Zero Point, the powerful conduit of multiversal energy that allows the agents to grab new fighters from all sorts of worlds. Batman was able to deduce that Wilson was working with the squad's mysterious adversaries, realizing that Deathstroke never lost his memories like the others. A brief clash leaves Slade tied up while the team make their way to their respective worlds, leaving Batman, Catwoman, and Deathstroke until last, seeing as they're all returning to the same reality. However, Slade manages to break free. Using the same device used by Fortnite's Agent Jonesy and players during the Season 6 live event, Deathstroke is able to teleport home without Batman and Catwoman's help, stranding them on Fortnite Island.
With only one issue left, it's going to be fascinating seeing how Batman and Catwoman make it home to Gotham City. While G.I. Joe's Snake Eyes - to slow Batman down. Now, Catwoman and the Dark Knight may need to uncover the truth of this hidden elite to get back to Gotham.
Batman showed his geniues by figuring out that Deathstroke was the traitor even without his memories of their long history as rivals in the DC Universe. Hopefully, Deathstroke's betrayal will only serve to focus Batman's detective instincts on the hidden secrets of Fortnite, and the shadowy individuals who have put the series' multiversal cast through so much suffering.
