Warning! Spoilers ahead for Teen Titans #44

Batman can no longer tolerate the actions of his son Robin and the Damian Wayne is making dark choices, going down a path that none of the other Titans are willing to follow, so perhaps it's really just Robin that's the problem.

In recent issues of the current Teen Titans series from writer Robbie Thompson and drawn by Jesus Merino, the team is close to breaking up for good (though they most certainly will in November when Teen Titans ends). Much of that has to do with the death of longtime Titans villain Brother Blood, who has just been murdered... by Robin. Now, the Teen Titans are after Damian before his streak of lethal justice continues, but they aren't the only ones after the rogue Robin. Batman, Damian's father is on the hunt as well, hoping to bring in his son before he does anything worse.

Teen Titans #44 begins with Nightwing in the head a few years ago. However, the rest of the Teen Titans arrive just in time to prevent Damian from killing KGBeast, with Kid Flash removing him from the area. While the Teen Titans want to bring Damian in and help him, Damian flees the scene, nowhere to be found. He later reemerges to speak with the team one last time, in an attempt to convince them that he made the right choice in killing Blood. Criminals will now fear them, and they can do more by eliminating them once and for all. However, the Teen Titans aren't interested, and neither is the Dark Knight who just showed up to break up the band.

It's been pretty evident that just as much as Batman been feeling lost without Alfred, so has Damian. It's no secret that Bruce Wayne is a pretty closed off and distant individual, and those qualities certainly don't lend themselves to excelling at fatherhood. As a result, Alfred typically filled the void for Damian that Batman often left open. Alfred's absence could be a large element at play for as to why Damian's making the dark choices he is, especially if Batman hasn't stepped up to the plate of as his father, as has been indicated in recent issues of Teen Titans.

Of course, it does look as though Batman is taking more intentional action with his son, though it does seem quite a bit too late and probably won't be received well by Damian, what with his teenage outburst having already risen to the level of justifying murder and all. In any case, hopefully father and son will be able to work things out, but as far as the Teen Titans are concerned, it seems doubtful that they'll ever reunite after this.
