With Andy Muschietti set to reinvent Batman for James Gunn's The DCU's Chapter 1: "Gods and Monsters" movie and TV shows line-up is underway, with different projects in various stages of development and production. In the case of DC Studios' Batman reboot, The Brave and The Bold, it's unclear when the film is actually going to happen.

During a new interview with RadioTU (translated by Comic Book Movie), Muschietti gave some new updates on The Brave and The Bold film, which is still going forward at DC Studios. While he couldn't go too deep into story details, Muschietti opened up on where the plot has been at in of his collaboration with Gunn, stating the following:

I've had conversations with James Gunn about the story concept, but we haven’t talked since before Superman began filming.

What Andy Muschietti's The Brave And The Bold Story Comments Mean For The DCU's Batman Movie

While Muschietti didn't elaborate further on his last The Brave and The Bold conversation with Gunn, the aspect of the two not having discussed the Batman reboot since 2024 - when Superman began filming - isn't necessarily something to get too worried about. With DC Studios, Gunn and his co-CEO Peter Safran have made it clear that no DCU movie or TV show will be rushed until the script and creative vision have been finalized. As of right now, there is no known writer attached to The Brave and The Bold movie, which may suggest that they are still meeting with scribes for pitches.

Since Muschietti has also been busy with other projects, it makes sense why other DCU properties have gone forward, including Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Lanterns, as they got further into their creative process, including landing their respective casts. No release date or script being in place also explains why the DCU's Batman casting hasn't started yet, as The Brave and The Bold could come later in Chapter 1: "Gods and Monsters." Given Batman's importance to DC, it makes sense to take proper time developing the character, rather than rushing into something that could lead to negative results.

Our Take On Andy Muschietti's The Brave And The Bold Story Comments

Batman and Robin Damian Wayne charging forward in DC comics

Time will tell how much further The Brave and The Bold will get in its development throughout 2025, especially as more DCU movies and TV shows are set to come out this year. Since Robert Pattinson won't be the Batman of The Brave and The Bold, it will be fascinating to see who will actually be cast as the Dark Knight in Gunn's DCU, and how the creative team will finalize their vision for whoever they hire. Hopefully, there will be some exciting updates on The Brave and The Bold as 2025 progresses forward.
