  • Dan Mora's enticing cover art reveals Batman and Superman with fangs, glowing red eyes, and an ongoing transformation.
  • The main cover of World's Finest #32 hints that Robin may be racing against time to stop Batman and Superman from fully becoming vampires.

DC is finally addressing one of its biggest missteps of the last decade: depriving fans of seeing Batman in their sexy vampire forms. In the Elseworlds series DC vs. Vampires, Batman died before becoming a vampire, and Superman's transformation was far from appealing. However, Mark Waid’s World's Finest has now given fans their first glimpse of the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight in all their undead glory.

On October 16, 2024, Mark Waid and Adrián Gutiérrez’s Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #32 will hit the shelves, bringing fans a thrilling new chapter. This issue teases the debut of the Justice League within this fan-favorite series, which explores the early adventures of Batman, Superman, and Robin Dick Grayson.

Even the combined might of the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight Detective cannot overcome the reincarnation of the literal wrath of God... sounds like our heroes are going to need some reinforcements. It's the World's Finest debut of the Justice League as night falls on the DCU!

While the introduction of DC’s premier superhero team is exciting in itself, Dan Mora’s main cover adds an extra layer of intrigue. It features a distressed and very human Robin in the background, juxtaposed with a strikingly ominous vampire Batman and Superman in the foreground.

Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #32 Cover Teases the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight as Vampires

Vampire Superman

Mora’s cover features Batman and Superman in their classic costumes. However, instead of the Man of Steel’s signature hope-filled smile and the Dark Knight’s scowl, their faces are twisted into snarls revealing razor-sharp fangs. Both heroes also sport glowing red eyes, amplifying the horror of their transformation. What’s perhaps most intriguing is how Bruce and Clark’s faces are bisected by two distinct skin tones: the left side retains their typical fleshy human color, while the right side is a cold, lifeless blue, as if the life has been drained from it. Given Mora’s artistic prowess, this is clearly a deliberate choice.

The synopsis for the comic issue reveals nothing about Batman and Superman’s vampiric transformation, but Mora’s art may offer some narrative clues. The variation in skin tone on each man's face suggests an ongoing transformation, as if the vampiric infection is gradually overtaking their human features. Consequently, it seems likely that the still-human Robin and possibly even the Justice League will be racing against time to prevent Batman and Superman from fully becoming vampires. Mora’s art implies that this skin tone change is linked to the vampire transformation, suggesting that the process must be halted before their skin fully adopts the cold blue pallor.

Dan Mora Blesses Fans With Superman and Batman as Sexy Vampires–A Far Cry From DC vs. Vampires

Vampire Superman Baron Cinders

As previously mentioned, Batman died in DC vs. Vampires before he could be transformed into an undead form. Though Superman survived long enough to become a major vampire, he was far from attractive, resembling the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz more than a swoon-worthy vampire. Dan Mora’s art, however, is a true treat, capturing Bruce and Clark’s classic attractiveness with a sexy vampire twist. Mora’s depiction is appealing due to its simplicity, featuring elements like fangs that enhance their allure without making them too monstrous. Here’s hoping we see more of this captivating vampire Superman and Batman in the narrative.
