Sean Gordon Murphy has some exciting news regarding his return to Batman: White Knight series. This Black Label series has already received several sequels over the years, and now, according to a recent update from SGM himself, the story will continue where it left off.
NYT Bestseller Sean Gordon Murphy recently took to Instagram to share exciting news with fans, posting to answer a few of the questions he’s been getting a lot lately. Murphy is well-known and beloved for his work on Batman. Hence, one of the most common questions he’s received is whether fans can expect his return to portraying the Caped Crusader.
In response, Murphy revealed that he just signed an exclusive contract with DC and will begin his next installment of the Batman: White Knight series this fall, promising to pick up where he left off with his self-titled Murphyverse line.

Sean Gordon Murphy’s Batman: White Knight series set up the introduction of this alternate universe’s Justice League in Batman: Beyond the White Knight #8 (2023), with Wonder Woman and Green Lantern John Stewart already part of the narrative and Superman officially making his debut. However, the saga left off with a major cliffhanger surrounding the Man of Steel, with Murphy and DC only teasing that the story would continue in the next installment, White Knight: World's Finest. Hence, after several years, it looks like the wait for the official debut of the White Justice League is finally just around the corner.
There is still no official release date for White Knight: World’s Finest. However, the fact that SGM has announced g an exclusive contract with DC and confirmed that fans can expect the next installment in fall 2025 is an extremely exciting and noteworthy development. This is especially true since SGM promises that it will “pick up where we left off: with Superman, along with some JLA elements.” It will be interesting to see what twist SGM gives Superman in this series, as he has consistently subverted fans' expectations of these characters, resulting in a masterpiece of engaging and fresh storytelling.

In addition to the news concerning the continuation of his Murphyverse, SGM also answered some other questions from DC fans, including whether DC “plans to do an omnibus or absolute edition of [his] Batman work.” SGM confirmed that “yes, those are both planned” and that he also believes a colored version is in the works, promising to post more updates when he knows more. Another fan asked if SGM has any plans to introduce Hush into his storyline, to which the creator replied, “No Hush plans. But I have plans for Selina finally.” Lastly, SGM teased that he is working on a new five-issue series and that he plans to pitch it to DC and others like Image. Hence, there is more than just Batman in store for fans of Sean Gordon Murphy.
