Word from reputable industry source Tom Henderson suggests Battlefield may launch across current and last-gen consoles.

In general, the Battlefield 6 rumors have yet to calm down over the course of the last several months. Another recent report, for example, describes the newest entry in the military shooter series as a near-future adventure boasting watchful drones and Boston Dynamics-inspired robot technology. In addition, a survey that Battlefield franchise's alleged new bells and whistles.

Industry insider Microsoft's ever-popular Xbox Game subscription service - a move that would "boost up player numbers," the leaker added at the end of his post.

While Battlefield 6 potentially skipping last-gen would be unfortunate for fans who are unable to get their hands on current-gen hardware, such a decision does fall in line with EA's previous hints and teases about the project. In an earnings call last fall, EA CEO Andrew Wilson divulged that PS5 and Xbox Series X are allowing Battlefield developers to realize their “next-gen vision” for the property.

DICE's ambitious vision doesn't merely revolve around prettier graphics and faster loading times, either. According to Wilson, the team is carefully crafting an experience that features “never-before-seen scale." And to help the Stockholm-based group see its plans through to completion, EA recently tapped Need for Speed studio Criterion to assist in the final stretch of the new Battlefield title's development.
