Easter eggs and references to the original Beetlejuice, but it also manages to honor Catherine O'Hara's most bizarre Schitt's Creek moment in the best way. Well before she played Moira Rose it the hit sitcom, Catherine O'Hara played Delia Deetz in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice, with many of the movie's funniest being owed to her. After Schitt's Creek's six seasons successfully relaunched O'Hara into the spotlight, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice capitalized on this by giving the actress an even bigger role, although it did manage to pay homage to her hit sitcom.

Catherine O'Hara is one of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's returning characters, with Delia Deetz starring in the film alongside her daughter Lydia Deetz and her granddaughter Astrid Deetz. A lot has been going on for Delia Deetz since the end of the first film, with her becoming a famous artist and losing her husband. However, not everything surrounding Catherine O'Hara's character is a reference to the original Beetlejuice, with the legacy sequel also containing a Schitt's Creek callback.

Both Artists Have A Similar Connection To Crows

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice contains a scene in which Lydia Deetz visits her mother's art studio, with the building being full of Delia's odd sculptures and other works. The showcase does a lot to show how zany Delia Deetz is, building off of her strange statues from the original film. The background is full of screens that show off different works featuring Delia, with one background screen showing Delia in a white costume being surrounded by black birds.

In Schitt's Creek, Catherine O'Hara plays Moira Rose, a former actress who wants nothing more than to be in the spotlight once again. Season 5 sees Moira travel to Bosnia in order to star in the film, with her character looking incredibly similar to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's crow exhibit.

Delia Actually Have A Lot In Common With Moira From Schitt's Creek

It Isn't Just Their Crow Obsession

Delia Deetz's reference to The Crows Have Eyes 3: The Crowening isn't Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's only connection to Moira Rose, as both characters are incredibly similar. Delia and Moira are both pretentious, artists, and incredibly wealthy, with them looking down on the poor that surround them. They also have similarly weird senses of fashion, with them often wearing loud dresses and wacky hairstyles.

The Deetzs' plan to buy Winter River in the original Beetlejuice is also incredibly similar to Schitt's Creek, where the wealthy Rose family has already bought the titular town at the start of the show. These parallels between both Catherine O'Hara characters are incredibly funny, with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's Schitt's Creek nod being one of the best Easter eggs in the film.
