Below Deck Down Under season 2 left many hoping that another season of the salacious series would be right around the corner.

Below Deck Down Under season 2 was a major stepping-stone in the franchise, as it aired both on Peacock as a streaming series and on Bravo as a week-to-week show. The episodes were released in a fairly different schedule, pushing for a heightened sense of drama, and the series delivered on all cylinders during its run. With Captain Jason at the helm and Chief Stew Aesha Scott managing the interior team, Norther Sun was run well, but the yachties couldn’t escape the drama. When exterior team member Luke Jones attempted to sexually assault Margot Sisson, everything changed aboard Northern Sun.

Things Are Changing After Season 2

During a recent interview, Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason shared that after the drama of the last season, the production of their show changed drastically. With a safety issue at play, Below Deck had to step in to ensure that nothing like Luke’s inappropriate behavior never happens to their crew again. While the incident was tackled quickly, with Aesha stepping in to help Margot and then reporting what happened to the Captain, firing Luke wasn’t quite enough for the show to continue to run smoothly. Instead, policies and procedures had to be put in place to ensure crew safety.

Captain Jason didn’t share much about what the Below Deck Down Under crew experienced, but he explained that there were HR professionals brought in to talk to the crew about expectations, issues, and how to handle misconduct. The Below Deck Down Under crew may be ready to bring the drama, and they can do that without the issues that were seen in the previous season, but things may be a bit less exciting with the new policies in place. While the cast’s safety is of the utmost importance, it could lead to some duller storylines on the series.

Things Could Be Changing Too Much

While some major changes are coming on Below Deck Down Under that could make for a great season of reality TV, it’s possible that the series could be duller without Aesha and the tizzy of drama from the crew. Crew could be nervous about getting into hot water with the rest of the cast or the producers if they create tension, which could lead to less drama. Aesha, who has been a major part of the series, could be palpably missing. Hopefully, Below Deck Down Under season 3 doesn’t suffer from the changes, but I’m worried it could.
