The infamous domestic violence incident between head steward Kate Chastain and her ex-girlfriend Ro Hernandez envelops the former Chief Stewardess Kate. As per Radar, “Ms. Chastain went into a fit of rage and physically attacked Ms. Hernandez and tried to steal her phone [...] [and Hernandez] [...] was bitten on the forearm, inner bicep, and leg. She was also held down [...] Ms. Hernandez also advised that she felt her airway close during the incident. [Hernandez also reported that Chastain] sat on top of her and lit a cigarette and continued to verbally abuse her [before] putting her knee on her head and pulling her hair.”

These events took place at the couple's former Melbourne, Florida, home in the summer of 2016. Kate went on to appear in Below Deck after the incident. Kate officially left the franchise in February 2020, although she still makes appearances related to the show.

Details Of The Altercation

The altercation began when Kate tried kicking Ro out of their home and threatened to change the locks. When Ro refused to comply, Kate attacked, and shortly afterward, police were called to their home. After litigation, the charges were eventually dropped. Though Kate maintained her innocence, she and Ro parted ways following the incident.

“Fortunately, that’s all gone away, but I’m a little more cautious about who I date because people can appear one way and then be different.”

Two years later, in 2018, Kate opened up about the altercation and her relationship with Ro. In an interview with People, Kate talks about how the incident made her "value her privacy." Kate even spoke about her return to the dating scene after this relationship. “Fortunately, that’s all gone away, but I’m a little more cautious about who I date because people can appear one way and then be totally different.”

Kate left Below Deck but recently grabbed headlines again with the birth of her son, Sullivan, in May 2023. Although it was suggested that Chef Ben Robinson was the father of Kate's baby boy, Kate shut down paternity rumors shortly after Sullivan's birth. Kate was cast in the game show The Traitors season 1, which saw both reality TV icons and regular people. In the game, Kate was known to speak her mind, not make friends easily, and not participate when she didn't feel like it. Kate was a Faithful during her original run and was largely used as a scapegoat by the Traitors, eventually leading to her elimination. Kate said that she would have done better as a Traitor.

Kate came into The Traitors season 2 as a late edition in episode 5, and she came in as a Faithful. Kate identified Dan Gheesling and Parvati Shallow as Traitors and was a lot more amenable to strategizing and talking with her fellow Faithfuls. However, the game changed for Kate when she was given an ultimatum by Phaedra Parks to her as a Traitor or be murdered.

Kate obliged and finished the game as a Traitor and made it all the way to the end. However, she fumbled by calling out Sandra Diaz-Twine, which put the suspicion her way instead, and she was ultimately banished. In all, Kate played a good game but could not go undetected. Kate has put her past domestic violence incident with Ro behind her and did not endure any formal legal consequences. She has maintained her reputation as a strong personality and a force to be reckoned with.

As for where Kate's love life is in 2024, she has yet to disclose this personal information. Since being in this tumultuous relationship, Kate has been very low-key both during her time on Below Deck and off the show about her relationship status. However, that doesn't mean there hasn't been excessive speculation about who the former yachtie could be dating. Since her first season of the show, there have been rumors that Kate and Chef Ben were in a relationship. While the pair did hook up during their early Below Deck days, they were never in a relationship.

Nonetheless, there was a lot of speculation about whether Kate and Ben were dating in the last couple of years. In December 2022, Kate confirmed on her Instagram page that she was expecting her first child. Shortly after the announcement, many began to wonder who the father of her child was, and the number one culprit was Ben. However, Ben was in a relationship at the time, plus both he and Kate denied the rumors. Other than Ben, there have been no other leads on who Kate's baby daddy is.

Now that Kate's a mother, she likely finds it difficult to date as she is so focused on her son, Sullivan.
