Summary
- Elena's feud with Bri affects her professional life, potentially leading to her firing.
- Several Below Deck alums could replace Elena, including Daisy Kelliher, Xandi Olivier, and Tumi Mhlongo.
- Katie Flood could also return to the franchise as a replacement, given her strong performance in Below Deck Med season 6.
If Elena Dubaich gets fired from Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, there are plenty of stews from Below Deck's past who could replace her. Before the season, the stew briefly appeared on Below Deck Med season 7 to replace Kyle Viljoen after an injury. After working on a charter with Captain Sandy Yawn, she was brought back in season 9 alongside fellow returning yachtie Aesha Scott. Though she was on the show before, this is her first season being a part of the official crew, and the Below Deck newbie has stirred up quite a bit of drama.
Elena as the villain of Below Deck Med season 9. If she keeps up her bad behavior, Captain Sandy may fire her and replace Elena.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now
Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.
8 Daisy Kelliher
Below Deck Sailing Yacht Seasons 2-4
Daisy Kelliher is one of the best Below Deck chief stews to appear in the franchise. If Captain Sandy chose to axe Elena from the Below Deck Med season 9 crew, Daisy would be more than an adequate replacement for the stew. While she primarily worked as the head of the interior department during her time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Daisy could still excel as a second stew. She would work alongside Aesha, bringing together two Below Deck fan favorites. It would be interesting to see another established Below Deck personality a cast of freshman yachties.
7 Xandi Olivier
Below Deck Season 11
Xandi Olivier proved to be a trustworthy second stew for Fraser Olender during Below Deck season 11. She had a no-nonsense attitude that paired well with the Chief Stew. Xandi grew close to Fraser during the charter season and became his right-hand woman. There was no question about whether he’d be able to trust Xandi. Instead of complaining about her workload, she worked quietly and efficiently. Xandi was a great addition to the crew of Below Deck season 11, and the Below Deck Med season 9 cast is in dire need of a hardworking stew.
6 Paris Field
Below Deck Season 11
Paris Field wasn’t a part of the original cast of Below Deck season 11, but the interior team improved after she ed the crew. She was brought in mid-season as Cat Baugh’s replacement and was a massive help to Fraser’s team of stews. Paris had a strong personality that meshed well with Xandi, one of her fellow stews. She had also previously met Fraser on FaceTime as he was friends with her ex-boyfriend, Jake Foulger. Paris got into a minor conflict with Chef Tatlock, but only because she was trying to help improve the success of the charter season.
5 Barbie Pascual
Below Deck Season 11
Barbie Pascual had an up-and-down journey on Below Deck season 11. She feuded with most of the crew, including Fraser, Cat, Xandi, Ben Willoughby, and Kyle Stillie. Barbie had a dominant personality and wasn’t comfortable working in an environment as a subordinate. She had a massive argument with Fraser, and he threatened to fire her for being disrespectful and ive-aggressive. However, after he spoke with Captain Kerry Titherage, Fraser put his differences with Barbie aside, and she finished out the season rather well before storming out on the final night after fighting with her boatmance, Kyle.
Barbie was a drama queen, but there’s no denying that she made great television. While she was used to being waited on in her personal life, she did great managing guests and working as a stew. Barbie didn’t always see eye to eye with Fraser, but she was mature enough to get past their differences and finish out the charter season. It would be controversial to bring Barbie back so quickly after her massive blow-up during the finale of Below Deck season 11, but she deserves another shot to prove that she’s a great stew.
4 Tumi Mhlongo
Below Deck Down Under Season 1 & Below Deck Med Season 8
Tumi Mhlongo served as the Chief Stew during Below Deck Med season 8. Before her stint on the Mediterranean-based spin-off, she was Aesha’s second stew during Below Deck Down Under. After just one season in the franchise, she was granted the leading role as Captain Sandy’s Chief Stew. However, Below Deck Med season 8 was a letdown due to her season-long feud with Natalya Scudder. They couldn’t get along, and the season suffered from their constant back-and-forth drama. Instead of becoming a Chief Stew, Tumi may have benefited from another season as a second stew.
It would be interesting to see her return to the show as a second stew. Tumi has prior experience working with Aesha on Below Deck Down Under, meaning they already have an established personal and professional relationship. If Elena was fired, Tumi might be the most reliable option to replace her. She’s already proven herself within the Below Deck franchise and could benefit from returning and redeeming herself in Below Deck Med season 9.
3 Lucy Edmunds
Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4
Lucy Edmunds from Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 could take over Elena’s role as a second stew in Below Deck Med season 9. While she was a part of a hectic cast, the stew was grounded. Lucy suffered an infamous back injury during her season, but other than that one unfortunate moment, she participated in no other drama during the season. She worked great under Chief Stew Daisy and created a lighthearted vibe with her hilarious confessional interviews. Lucy has expressed an interest in returning to Below Deck Sailing Yacht, but she should switch to Below Deck Med.
2 Mads Herrera
Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4
Mads Herrera was a breakout star in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4. She had an adventurous personality that got her into trouble at times. Mads was in an infamous boatmance with Gary King but didn’t cling to the first mate. When she learned about his love triangle with Daisy and Colin Macrae, she took herself out of the drama and continued living her best life aboard the Parsifal III. Mads would be an out-of-the-blue casting decision for Below Deck Med season 9, but she’d likely spice up the already entertaining season.
1 Katie Flood
Below Deck Med Season 6
It would be incredible if Katie Flood returned to the franchise in Below Deck Med season 9. She was Captain Sandy’s Chief Stew during Below Deck Med season 6 and became a beloved crew member. Katie had the difficult job as the preceding Chief Stew of Hannah Ferrier and held her own. She seemingly has a good relationship with Bravo as she just appeared on Winter House season 3, meaning the network could call on her to return to the show if Elena is fired.
Many Below Deck stews could replace Elena in Below Deck Mediterranean season 9. The second stew is letting her relationships affect her professional life, disrupting the workflow of the interior team. Luckily enough for Captain Sandy, if Elena is fired, there are plenty of options for stews that could take her spot.
Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo, then streams the following day on Peacock.
