Gary King trying to stay relevant without Below Deck Sailing Yacht backing him up seems like a misstep for the former First Mate.

On Instagram, Gary shared that he attended YouTuber Caspar Lee’s wedding to influencer and model Ambar Driscoll, sharing some beautiful photos and videos from the event. According to Gary, he had an “amazing” time celebrating the couple in style. Revealing that he and Joe Sugg “grew up together” in South Africa, Gary shared that his day leading up to the wedding was a fairly normal affair before getting dressed up for the event. Adding a professional video of the wedding into his post, he shared that he had a great time celebrating his surprising friends’ nuptials close to home.

Gary King Is Trying To Stay Relevant

Although Gary’s currently dealing with some major drama in his personal and professional life amid the major lawsuit filed against him along with Below Deck’s production company, it’s clear that he’s not really letting it phase him. Publicly continuing to post as normal, Gary’s been adamant that the sexual misconduct allegations against him are false in the past. Now he doesn’t seem to be interested in commenting on them at all, putting himself on the backburner as he celebrates others. While Gary was clearly ing a childhood friend at their wedding, using the influencers’ event to relaunch himself was interesting.

Though Gary has apparently been friends with Caspar since his youth, it’s interesting he chose to share his friendship with the influencer and creator now rather than years ago. Gary leveraging the couple’s fairly clean persona in order to make himself look a bit less suspicious may not have been intentional, but knowing he’s going through something fairly serious right now makes it seem like a calculated move. Knowing that Gary’s friendships with his Below Deck co-stars like Daisy Kelliher may not be strong, he may be trying to stay relevant in the reality TV space with his connections.

Although it doesn’t seem likely that Gary will be returning for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 6 could revitalize the show with a fresh crew and new drama. Even so, Gary trying to stay relevant without the series backing him up seems like a misstep for the former First Mate. Gary’s behavior has tainted Below Deck Sailing Yacht for some, and he may be moving on to different projects.
