as hands-on as some other Below Deck captains, the lack of urgency in his behavior has been a struggle to watch as his crew has struggled throughout the season.

Below Deck Sailiing Yacht season 5 has been uncharacteristically difficult for Captain Glenn, as he’s been working with a whole new group aside from Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher and First Officer Gary King. While the Captain has been used to Daisy and Gary’s behavior and relationship, the rest of the yachties are new faces who he’s less-than aware of. Despite Captain Glenn’s difficulties with his crew, he’s been finding himself with a new sense of ego as he’s moved through the season. With the scandals he’s been part of and surrounded by, the Captain shouldn’t be moving with such ease.

He Favors Gary King

Captain Glenn Plays Favorites

Although Gary has given Captain Glenn plenty of reasons not to feel confident in his abilities, the Below Deck Sailing Yacht star has chosen to play favorites when it comes to Gary despite his behavior. Gary, who was accused of sexual misconduct between Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 and season 5, has been tip-toeing around the crew throughout the season. While he’s still been doing his job to the best of his abilities, Gary’s behavior has colored the season for viewers, who haven’t been interested in seein him around. While viewers have struggled with Gary, Captain Glenn loves him.

Captain Glenn’s long-standing working relationship with Gary is something he’s been able to keep in the back of his mind throughout the last few seasons, when Gary’s behavior has become more and more difficult. While Gary’s always been a playboy and struggled with his relationships with women aboard Parsifal III, his behavior between the most recent Below Deck Sailing Yacht seasons made it clear he feels too comfortable doing whatever he wants. Captain Glenn has been aware of Gary’s behavior in the past, but much like he’s doing this season, has felt comfortable brushing things off because he likes Gary.

Although Captain Glenn is consistently showing favoritism with Gary, his relationship with his long-time Chief Stew Daisy is the complete opposite. Daisy, who has been the backbone of Below Deck Sailing Yacht since her debut in the second season, has been a guiding force for the crew. While her performance on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has been lackluster, it’s clear that she’s one of the best yachties Captain Glenn has, which makes his behavior toward her even more disconcerting. Throughout Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, Captain Glenn hasn’t been kind to Daisy, despite her tremendously hard work.

While his niceties aren’t necessary, Captain Glenn has been kind to the other yachties aboard Parsifal III throughout the season, and his distaste for Daisy seems to be incredibly sudden. Captain Glenn’s attitude with Daisy has been strange, and leaves many wondering if he’s blaming her for something bigger than her behavior during the current charter season. While Daisy’s not necessarily at fault for Colin Macrae, former Chief Engineer of Parsifal III, choosing to leave the crew, Captain Glenn may hold her responsible for one of his favorite crew not returning for the current charter season or foreseeable future.

He Doesn't Appreciate Constructive Criticism

Captain Glenn Isn’t Looking For

Despite knowing that nobody is perfect, Captain Glenn isn’t open to or constructive criticism from his crew. While Captain Glenn is the most seasoned yachtie aboard Parsifal III and knows his way around a ship, mistakes can happen to absolutely anyone and it’s clear that everyone could use a bit of a call out from time to time. Throughout Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, Captain Glenn has been incredibly hesitant to accept any , even when it’s completely warranted. As the show moves into the second half of the season, Captain Glenn’s behavior has been alarming to watch.

From his favoritism of Gary to his inability to accept and his clear disdain for Daisy, he’s made his stance about the crew clear. Captain Glenn, who’s been in the midst of Gary’s major scandal and dealt with other issues throughout the season, has been developing far more of an ego than he’s had in earlier seasons. Rather than allowing himself to be humbled, the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 Captain seems to want to let his head continue to grow. Captain Glenn’s ego is something viewers will be keeping track of moving forward.
