Ben Affleck's portrayal of The Flash.

Affleck's latest Batman turn for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, announced by Jason Momoa on Instagram, was a massive surprise and one that also makes Affleck a Batman record holder in a new way. With Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Affleck has now portrayed Bruce Wayne in five theatrical movies, the most of any Batman actor. While an impressive record on its own, it also sets the bar for breaking it to an all but impossible level.

With the DCEU still attached to Affleck's Batman, any other Batman actor would have to appear as Bruce Wayne in at least six movies to break Affleck's record. The scope of that challenge multiplies greatly when looking at the roster of current Batmen alongside Affleck, specifically Robert Pattinson and Michael Keaton. Even more so, the fact that Affleck keeps returning makes it harder to assume his record is not going to go any higher in the near future.

Ben Affleck's Batman Tenure Keeps Growing

Affleck officially stepped down from the Batman role in early 2019, with Robert Pattinson taking over for Matt Reeves's in The Flash, alongside Keaton's Batman. Considering how much of a reversal that is from his pre-Snyder Cut Batman situation, it is entirely possible that Affleck could be amenable to further Batman appearances, and Affleck doing so would make his Batman record even harder to overcome.

Robert Pattinson has just got started in The Batman and would have quite a hill to climb in playing Batman at least five more times, which would be even harder to accomplish with his Batman existing in his own universe with no other character's movies to cameo in. Michael Keaton is currently in second place behind Affleck with three appearances, meaning three more films would still be necessary for Keaton to break Affleck's record. With the potential of further Affleck Batman appearances, breaking Affleck's record seems like a bridge too far for the other current Batmen.

Ben Affleck's Batman once had a pretty shaky future, to say the least. Ironically, thanks mainly to the character redemptions of Zack Snyder's Justice League and apparent behind-the-scenes changes to Affleck's liking, that future has become equally unpredictable in a completely different way. When all's said and done, Ben Affleck's record for the most number of Batman film appearances will not be broken in the near future and seems increasingly likely to never be.
