Big Fish (75%)
“Big Fish” was released on Christmas Day in 2003 and was very well received by audiences everywhere. This film centers around the life of Edward Bloom, who has many tales of adventure to tell. On one of his adventures, Bloom meets Amos Calloway, who is the ringmaster of a circus, and also a werewolf. In the movie, Amos tells Bloom, “You were a big fish in a small pond, but this here is the ocean and you’re drowning.” This line gives the film its iconic title.

The Rainmaker (83%)
“The Rainmaker” is a legal drama starring Matt Damon and Danny DeVito. The film was released in 1997 and directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
It’s based on the John Grisham novel of the same name. The story focuses on Damon’s character, Rudy Baylor, who has just finished law school, but can’t find a job. Rudy finds himself entangled with sleazy lawyers when he runs into DeVito’s character Deck Shifflet. Together, the two men team up to take down a massive insurance company and against all odds, they do what they set out to do.
The War of the Roses (85%)
This dark comedy, released in 1989 and starring Kathleen Turner as Barbara Rose and Michael Douglas as Oliver Rose, tells the story of a married couple with a lot of money, who decide to end their marriage. The biggest problem here is that neither of the spouses want to give up their home. Chaos ensues destroying not only whatever is left of their marriage, but also their home. Danny DeVito eventually steps in, playing the couple’s lawyer, trying his best to find a resolution amidst the craziness unfolding.
Get Shorty (87%)
In Get Shorty, Danny DeVito plays Martin Weir a famous and egotistical actor who was once married to Karen Flores, played by Rene Russo.
Weir finds himself entangled with Chili, a film producer and Harry, a loan shark, when the two gentleman approach Weir with an idea for his next starring role. DeVito’s character is the “shorty” referenced to in the title of this film, which centers around the rest of the characters trying to get Weir to agree to play the title role in their screenplay called, Mr. Lovejoy.

Ruthless People is a comedy starring Danny DeVito and Bette Middler. Danny’s character, Sam hates his wife and fantasizes about ways to get rid of her. One day, it seems as though Sam’s prayers have been answered when two kidnappers come and take Sam’s wife, Barbara, played by Middler. Sam decides to sit back, ignore the ransom note, and let the kidnappers do what they will with Barbara. The kidnappers, on the other hand, have also found Barbara to be unbearable and now need to find a way to not only get their money, but to get rid of the woman they’ve taken.
LA Confidential (99%)
This neo-noir crime drama, set in 1950’s Los Angeles was produced, directed, and co-written by Curtis Hanson, who has directed a number of great films, including 8-Mile and In Her Shoes. This film is based on a novel by the same name and tell the story of how Hollywood celebrity and the LAPD merged in the 1950’s. This film received critical acclaim, getting nine Academy Award nominations the year of its release, and winning two of those awards for Best ing Actress (Kim Bassinger) and Best Adapted Screenplay.
