With Christmas just around the corner, and Disney dominating every space in the entertainment industry, we thought it fitting to make a list combining these two ideas. For all the adults out there, you probably prefer a live-action flick for the holidays (even though we know you love the classic animated ones).
Disney has just released a plethora of projects on Disney+, and they have a ton of films in the works. For instance, we know you're as stoked as your kids for Frozen 2, coming out in later in November. So, since Disney always makes us feel like we're a little kid in Santa's workshop, here is a list of films to binge on the holidays. 'Twas the Night (2001) - 5.5
In this Christmas flick, a mischievous and rebellious 14-year-old and his uncle nearly ruin Christmas after they steal Santa's new, high-tech sleigh. Yes, this movie is a joyride gone wrong, during the holidays.
Starring Josh Zuckerman, Brenda Gate, and Bryan Cranston, this holiday Disney Channel special is definitely cringe-worthy and hilarious. You know you're going to watch it, so better at least try and enjoy it, right? Plus, we kind of all wish we could steal Santa's sleigh.
The Search for Santa Paws (2010) - 5.5
In this flick, you get your two favorite things: Christmas and puppies. That's right, magic dogs, elves, and two children, all teaming up to save Santa - who lost his memory. Directed by Robert Vince (your favorite pupperino film director), this film stars Reese Alexander, Diedrich Bader, and Sahar Biniaz.
Sure, a 5.5 is nothing to brag about, but can you really up holiday pups, that are MAGICAL? We don't think so, so, go binge it immediately.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018) - 5.5
This is the newest Disney Christmas flick, and tells the story of this famous holiday tale. Starring Mackenzie Foy, Keira Knightley, and Morgan Freeman, this movie follows the young girl who is transported into a magical, Christmas world.
This is actually a stunning movie, and we definitely suggest seeing it on the big screen if it makes a holiday comeback. Sure, it's nothing great, but it's quite the cute and inspiring holiday flick with some of your favorite actors. We at least promise a magical experience.
The Santa Clause 2 (2002) - 5.6
You probably either love or hate this series. The sequel only managed a 5.6 on IMDb, but we know you still watched it. Tim Allen is back, and this time he seeks out a Mrs. Claus after being Santa for over 10 years. Yeah, it's cheesy and awkward to watch, but this series is probably the most classic Santa one out there, and Tim Allen will never escape this role (no matter how hard he tries).
The Ultimate Christmas Present (2000) - 5.9
This movie follows a young girl who steals Santa's weather machine in order to force a snow day. We can all relate, right? However, the machine breaks, and a crazy, horrific snowstorm is underway.
Starring Hallee Hirsh and Spencer Breslin (our friend from the Santa Clause series), this flick is pretty humorous. Whether you try not to laugh or not, we bet you probably are. Tune in to this underrated and adorable classic for a wholesome holiday treat.
Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas! (2011) - 6.4
This is a movie special based on the Disney Channel show, Good Luck Charlie. In this special, this family gets separated from each other, and let's just say things get a bit hilarious and complicated.
Starring the regular cast (Bridgit Mendler, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Bradley Steven Barry), this holiday flick is perfect for lovers of Disney Channel. And especially if you loved this show already. Good luck to us all, especially on the holidays.
The Santa Clause (1994) - 6.4
Of course, the original film of this series was bound to take a spot on this list. With a 6.4, this movie did the best of the bunch. You know the story: Tim Allen plays an everyman, and he accidentally makes Santa Claus fall off his roof.
So, he finds himself as the new Santa Claus, recruited by magic to take over the role. This movie is funny, whether we like to it it or not, and a 6.4 definitely isn't bad for a cheesy Tim Allen Santa flick. Go re-watch this classic over the holidays. We won't tell anyone.
A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa (2008) - 6.6
This holiday special only appeared on TV, but it still takes the bronze medal on this list. We love the Muppets, and this musical comedy is everything we needed over the holidays. Gonzo accidentally diverts three letters to Santa, and recruits Kermit and the gang into delivering them to the North Pole themselves.
Starring your favorite Muppets, this flick also has cameos and roles by Uma Thurman, Whoopi Goldberg, Madison Pettis, and many, many more. You know you love every second of this musical holiday gem.
One Magic Christmas (1985) - 6.6
The oldest film on this list manages to snag the second best spot. An angel must show a mother what Christmas is all about. Which, we've all seen enough holiday flicks to know that family is what matters, and not materialistic things.
This is definitely a holiday classic, and we suggest throwing it back to 1985 this holiday season. It's magical, sentimental, and totally lovable. Plus, we know you'll probably cry, so. Merry Christmas to you and the special people in your life.
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) - 7.7
Clearly, everyone else loves the Muppets, too. This is also an older flick, but it managed a whopping 7.7 on IMDb. Starring Michael Caine, this film features your favorite Muppet characters as they tell the famous story of an old and bitter man who despises anything yuletide.
This is your favorite Christmas story, and what better way to tell that than with the Muppets? Seriously, this is our favorite live-action version of this tale, and we're accepting no competing arguments against it. Happy holidays from the Muppets — now, go binge some Disney flicks!
