It might not be the most positively reviewed superhero film in the world, but Emma Stone’s appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man is known as one of the highlights of the film.

In it, she plays Gwen Stacy, Spidey’s love interest. She openly itted to not having much knowledge of the franchise, so her well-liked portrayal was even more impressive.

Emma Stone landed the starring role in the Will Gluck comedy, Easy A. Starring alongside an impressive cast that included Amanda Bynes, Thomas Haden Church, and Fred Armisen, there was a lot of responsibility on the leading lady.

It obviously went pretty well, because the film was praised in general, with Stone’s brilliant performance being the focus. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress, as well, which is no mean feat. She plays her character with poise and humor, proving why she is such a highly regarded actress.

The Croods (7.2)

The Croods took a unique storyline (co-written by John Cleese himself) and did it justice with its charming animation style and an excellent cast. Stone plays Eep Crood, the daughter of Grug and Ugga (Nicolas Cage and Catherine Keener).

Keen to try out the new things put forward by Ryan Reynolds’ Guy, the two, of course, end up falling in love. Its sequel is on the way at some point in the future.

Crazy, Stupid, Love (7.4)

It might not do anything overwhelmingly new, exciting or artistic, but Crazy, Stupid, Love was a well-liked romantic comedy with Steve Carell taking on the lead role.

Stone plays Hannah Weaver -- a young woman caught up in the middle of a strange series of attempted romances.

Zombieland (7.6)

One of the greatest zom-coms since Shaun Of The Dead is the Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Emma Stone-starring film, Zombieland. Not only does the film have a genuinely engrossing storyline, but it’s also just incredibly funny from all angles.

After many years, the film was given a sequel. It might not do the original justice, but it was better than anybody expected.

The Favourite (7.6)

Olivia Colman as Queen Anne, Emma Stone as Abigail Hill, and Rachel Weisz as Lady Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough in The Favourite.

The Favourite probably became most well-known for being the film in which Olivia Coleman won Best Actress at the Academy Award, Golden Globes, and BAFTAs, for her incredible portrayal of Queen Anne.

While Coleman’s wonderful performance wins out, Emma Stone still does a fine job in her portrayal of Abigail Masham in the period black comedy.

Superbad (7.6)

One of Emma Stone’s earliest roles saw her land a relatively small part in Superbad. She plays Jules, the host of a party and the recipient of an unwanted kiss from Seth, as well as a black eye ...

Her role was widely praised and ended up leading to a number of impressive comedy roles soon after. The film itself is known to be one of the best American comedies, with Jonah Hill taking on the starring role and Seth Rogen co-writing the film.

Birdman (7.7)

The reception to Birdman was strange. It won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director (and more), which is an incredibly impressive feat for a black comedy about a ‘superhero’, despite the fact that it didn't get an overwhelming amount of love from audiences.

Stone doesn’t have a major role, but she plays a much darker character than usual and to perfection -- the recovering drug addict, Sam.

La La Land (8.0)

La La Land is probably the most successful film Stone has been a part of in of sheer response. After all, the film took home the Academy Award for Best Director and saw Stone herself pick up a Best Actress award.

The Help (8.1)

Emma Stone as Skeeter in The Help

One of Stone’s most serious roles to date comes from 2011’s The Help. An 8.1 average on IMDb is rather impressive, and the film’s four Academy Awards nominations help to prove why.

Stone plays the aspiring journalist Eugenia ‘Skeeter’ Phelan as she navigates her way through the 1963 Civil Rights Movement while writing a book from the perspective of two black maids who experience daily racism.
