Years ago, Flashpoint storyline, in which Flash travels back in time to save his mother from dying, but in doing so he drastically alters his reality.
Many believe The Flash will effectively reset the Ezra Miller’s recent legal troubles could alter these plans in the long run. Nevertheless, whether actually in The Flash or beyond, this could allow for several important alternative Flashes, allies, and villains to the DCEU.
Flash (Jay Garrick)
Before Barry Allen become the classically-recognized Flash in the 1950s, Jay Garrick served as the Flash during the Golden Age of Comics. He was a founding member of the Justice League’s precursor, the Justice Society of America. He was later defined as being the Flash from Earth-2, an alternate universe to the main continuity.
This could definitely feature in The Flash since shots from the trailer show multiple variants of Miller’s Flash. Like in the CW show The Flash, Jay Garrick could be utilized as a mentor to Barry Allen, or whoever is chosen to replace him if that’s the decision DC makes in the future.
Reverse-Flash
Since Flashpoint is largely being adapted, many are expecting that The Flash’s main antagonist will be Flash’s greatest enemy, Reverse-Flash. Eobard Thawne is from the distant future. He has manipulated so much of Barry Allen’s life and is responsible for killing Barry’s mother, Nora, and framing Henry Allen for the murder.
There are several Jojo Rabbit. Even if he is not featured in The Flash, given his importance throughout the years in comics, it seems very likely that Reverse-Flash will the DCEU at some point.
Kid Flash (Wally West)
DCEU executives have already stated that it is far too late to replace Ezra Miller in The Flash – given his leading role, they’d need to rewrite and reshoot the entire film. However, should the decision be made, it could set up or even formally introduce Wally West AKA Kid Flash, who is the third person to become the Flash. He is Barry’s nephew in the comics, related to Iris West, played by Kiersey Clemons in The Flash.
He’s been a member of the Teen Titans, Young Justice, and Justice League, and interestingly he is actually even faster than his mentor, being the fastest in the entire multiverse. As such, his involvement in the DCEU is practically guaranteed – it’s all just a matter of when.
Captain Cold
The Flash’s enemies might not be as popular as Batman’s, but they are certainly enigmatic and interesting. One of his most classic villains is Captain Cold. He is the leader of the Rogues, a collection of Flash’s enemies like Mirror Master, Golden Glider, and Weather Wizard.
He is unique among the Flash’s enemies as he has also served as an ally to Wally West, though begrudgingly. It would be exciting to see Captain Cold and his fellow Rogues feature in a future Flash film as the antagonists, whether against Barry Allen and/or Wally West.
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
One of Barry Allen’s best friends and greatest allies in the comics could soon be ing the DCEU. Hal Jordan is the second, yet most-recognizable Green Lantern – who like Barry, is a reinvention of a Golden Age Hero and JSA member, Alan Scott. A Green Lantern Corps. film is in development for the DCEU and would likely introduce Hal Jordan – though this film will mostly focus on John Stewart as the protagonist.
Hal Jordan is arguably one of the most important characters in DC comics, so he’ll likely become an equally vital part of the DCEU, and hopefully, his friendship with Flash can be showcased. However, fans might have to wait a while to see this come to fruition.
Pied Piper
Another member of the Rogues, Hartley Rathaway, better known as Pied Piper, could be introduced in future Flash films. While introduced as a villain, he eventually reforms himself and becomes an important ally to Wally West as the Flash. He is born deaf and like his namesake, he can hypnotize and manipulate people using his sonic flute.
His transformation from villain to vigilante to friend would be nice to see in the DCEU – plus Justice League, Barry starts working at the Central City Police Department, which could mean the introduction of Hartley’s boyfriend, David Singh, and thus Hartley himself.
Elongated Man
There are several heroes in DC comics with elastic and shapeshifting powers, and one was first introduced as an ally to Flash. Ralph Dibny the Elongated Man has been a staple in the comics and related media since the 1960s – however, his contemporary Plastic Man might be more well-known by the general public.
Elongated Man has also been a member of the Justice League and is considered one of the best detectives in DC comics. His powers have always leaned comical and difficult to translate into live-action, but that shouldn’t limit his possibility of appearing in the future. Of course with the Fantastic Four coming to the MCU, alternative Flash allies could be utilized to differentiate and distance the DCEU further from its rival.
Flash (Avery Ho)
Beyond Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, and Wally West, there have been many others who have taken up the mantle of the Flash, including Avery Ho. She was first introduced in 2016 as one of the characters empowered by a Speed Force Storm hitting Central City. Upon gaining her abilities and training with the Flash, she becomes a hero in her own right as the Flash of China.
Like the Superman of China, Kong Keenan, Avery s the Justice League of China. She’s even served on the multiversal team, Justice League Incarnate. She is not the only prominent female speedster – there’s also Jesse Quick, XS, and Irey West – and any of them could play prominent roles in future Flash films in the DCEU.
Impulse (Bart Allen)
Through the Speed Force, many speedsters have traveled across time to fight with and/or against the Flash, including Bart Allen, commonly known as Impulse. He hails from the 30th century, and he is only the grandson of Barry Allen while also being a descendent of his archnemesis, Eobard Thawne AKA Reverse-Flash.
He’s been part of the Teen Titans, Young Justice, and Justice League, succeeding Wally West temporarily as the Flash. Given The Flash’s apparent reliance on time travel, Impulse could certainly feature in the DCEU somewhere down the line, perhaps in an epic Flash-family team-up.
Johnny Quick
One possible consequence of The Flash could be the opening of the multiverse in the DCEU, and thus the introduction of all sorts of variant characters, such as Johnny Quick. He is Flash’s villainous counterpart from Earth-3, and a member of the Crime Syndicate along with Ultraman, Owlman, and Superwoman to name a few.
Johnny Quick and the Crime Syndicate could certainly make for exciting antagonists in a future Justice League film. It would allow for the heroes to essentially face off against and confront the worst of themselves, thus proving what makes them true heroes. This, however, would need to be far down the line, especially since there is no word of a Justice League sequel yet.
