This quirky film, produced by the Duplass brothers, stars Aubrey Plaza, Jake Johnson, and Karan Soni plays a journalist and two interns on an investigation to find and talk to a person who has been publishing want ads for a partner to travel back in time with them.

Johnson's journalist tries to approach the man when they find him (played by Mark Duplass) but is dismissed and will only talk to Plaza's intern. It's a heartwarming and fantastical film that has balances its offbeat comedy with serious moments.

People Like Us (2012) - 7.1

Chris Pine returns home after his estranged father's death and has a difficult reunion with his mother. Pine's character is in legal trouble and hoping to get some money from his father's inheritance, but learns that he gave it all to a child he's never heard of before.

Finding out that that kid is his father's illegitimate grandson and the kid's mother is his half-sister, he begins a relationship with them without fully explaining his intentions. It's a mostly serious and dramatic film but has its funny moments throughout. Although Mark Duplass only has a small role in this film, it's worth the watch!

The One I Love (2014) - 7.1

This quirky and trippy film, produced by the Duplass brothers, follows a couple (Mark Duplass and Elisabeth Moss) trying to save their marriage.

They go on vacation, suggested by their therapist played by Ted Danson, and quickly realizes that there's something fantastical happening. They run into doppelgangers of themselves and things get weirder from there.

Paddleton (2019) - 7.2

This quirky Netflix film, produced by the Duplass brothers, which Mark Duplass helped write, tells the story of two oddball friends, Duplass and Ray Romano. They spend a day doing their favorite things together, including playing a game they made up together called Paddleton, and go on a road trip where Duplass' character reveals he's chosen to not fight his terminal illness.

It's a thought-provoking and lovely film that focuses on the true heart of friendship between two people as both of them deal with the tragic news that one has been diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Blue Jay (2016) - 7.3

Blue Jay was written by Mark Duplass, produced by him and his brother Jay, and stars him and Sarah Paulson as high school sweethearts who grew apart and run into each other when he returns to town.

It's a tense and stylized Indie drama about two people who reconnect, reminisce about their past lives together, and confront their unhappiness in their present lives.

Togetherness (2015-2016) - 7.5

Togetherness follows four thirty-something characters who are in a rut. Brett (Mark Duplass) and Michelle (Melanie Lynskey) are married with kids and the spark is almost fully gone in their relationship.

They attempt to rekindle what they had while also finding themselves again as individuals. Togetherness was a realistic show with a lot of awkward humor that's worth checking out.

Wedlock (2014) - 7.7

This short-lived show produced by both Mark and Jay Duplass followed two extremely similar best friends who would make a perfect couple, but they're unsure of how to take that step.

They seek outside help in a famous marriage counselor to help them connect as a couple instead of just friends.

Manhunt (2017-Ongoing) - 8.1

This Netflix series takes an in-depth, dark, and psychological look at the FBI's investigation and hunt into the Unabomber case. The first season focused on the FBI agents who investigated the Unabomber case in hopes of ending the 20-year manhunt for the criminal, while also focusing on the psychological effects that afflicted the agents assigned to the case.

Mark Duplass portrays the Unabomber's brother, David Kaczynski.

The League (2009-2015) - 8.2

The League was a comedic show about a group of friends who were overly competitive in their fantasy football league. Although the focus was football, this show never required the viewer to be a fanatic. It was an all-around hilarious show about a group of friends continuously messing with each other and getting into outrageous situations, but also focused on their close bond and how they kept their relationships strong after growing up.

It starred Mark Duplass and his real-life long term partner Katie Aselton along with Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, and Stephen Rannazzisi. It's an essential watch for any Mark Duplass fan.

Morning Show (2019-) - 8.4

This new show follows the behind the scenes lives of the hosts and others working on a morning talk show. When a co-host (Steve Carrell) is fired after his sexual scandal is made public, a progressive woman (Reese Witherspoon) is hired as the new co-host to star on the show with Jennifer Anniston as they all try to recover its image.

Mark Duplass portrays a producer on the show and gives his cynical take on anything and everything.
