The Star Wars franchise is full of iconic quotes and single lines that have burned themselves into the fabric of pop culture as well as into the minds of fans around the world. However, the saga is also chock full of monologues, extended quotes, and speeches that are an absolute joy to watch and listen to. Some monologues inspire, some strike fear, some even evoke sadness or laughter. They are prominent throughout the franchise, with some standing out above the rest due to both the delivery and the lines themselves.

Galen Erso's Hologram In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)

Jyn Erso watches the hologram message left for her by Galen Erso in Rogue One

One of the lesser talked about aspects of Rogue One is the relationship between Galen and Jyn Erso and how Jyn is partly fuelled in her mission by her love for him and finishing off what he started.

The hologram message has a little of everything. Not only does it further the plot, but it is a crucial moment. The rebellion would never have won without this message - wonderfully delivered by Mads Mikkelsen. On top of that, it is a touching and emotional half interaction between a father and a daughter estranged from one another for the greater good.

Sheev Palpatine's Iconic Story About Darth Plagueis The Wise In Revenge Of The Sith (2005)

Palpatine and Anakin talk about Darth Plagueis in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

The tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise may not be a story the Jedi would tell, but it can get recited by most Star Wars fans and is one of the most iconic pieces of dialogue in the saga.

The whole monologue is interrupted by Anakin midway through, but there are basically two short monologues on either side of it. The delivery from the always-incredible Ian McDiarmid is on point here. This story proves to be a pivotal moment in the Skywalker saga and a fascinating yet brief insight into Sidious' Sith Master.

Maul Talking To Ahsoka Before Their Duel In "The Phantom Apprentice"

Maul and Ahsoka Tano duel during the Siege of Mandalore in The Clone Wars

The Siege of Mandalore arc has everything one would want from a Star Wars story, with the exception of a happy ending. Great quotes and dialogue are included in that, and perhaps the best exchange comes before Maul and Ahsoka's indescribably good duel.

Maul has the majority of dialogue in the scene, with Ahsoka only having a couple of comments to interrupt him. The longest chunk of Maul's dialogue that goes interrupted comes when Maul asks Ahsoka to him in taking down Sidious. Maul has a few tremendous extended soliloquies that are on par with this, such as his hunt for Obi-Wan in Rebels and his self-announced return and lust for revenge against Obi-Wan.

Luke's Second Lesson In The Last Jedi (2017)

Luke tells Rey the story of Ben Solo in The Last Jedi

The Last Jedi is something about which Star Wars fans will never agree. There will always be arguments about its quality and its use of Luke Skywalker. There is no denying the brilliance of Mark Hamill though, especially in scenes like this.

Here, Luke talks about the hubris of the Jedi and of himself. He emotionally tells Rey about how Leia trusted him with her son and how he fell to the dark side of the Force. It is a harrowing tale full of emotion that truly sells the emotional and cosmic fallout of what happened to Luke.

Pé's ionate Speech In "Pursuit Of Peace"

Pé gives a speech to the Galactic Senate in Pursuit of Peace in Star Wars The Clone Wars

Of all the powerful and influential characters of the Clone Wars era, it was Pé Amidala who consistently frustrated Palpatine and forced him into tweaking decisions in his plan. Pé's plea in "Pursuit of Peace" was one time this happened.

Pé uses the speech to try and block a bill that would allow millions to be spent on more troopers for the war. Pé presents to the Senate an of how the Republic's war is harming the everyday citizen they are sworn to protect and fight for. It is inspirational and may well be Pé's finest moment in Star Wars.

Princess Leia's Iconic Hologram

Princess Leia's Hologram in Star Wars

The first great monologue in Star Wars comes from one of the franchise's best and most iconic characters, Leia Organa - who has a slew of superb quotes through her time in the saga - as she sends Artoo to find Obi-Wan, with a hologram message from her for him.

It is a piece of dialogue seared into the memories of all fans. "Help me, Obi-Wan, you're my only hope." can be and has been spoken by every fan out there at one point or another, and hearing it upon rewatch - alongside the rest of her plea with the Jedi - brings a smile to the faces of audiences.

Yoda Talks About War In "Sacrifice"

Yoda returns from his mission in the Force and speaks with Obi-Wan and Mace Windu in The Clone Wars

The Empire Strikes Back in of their brilliance. His best in the series may be this speech in the final episode of season 6 and the final episode before the show's cancellation.

It is a powerful message that not only details what Yoda went through in his journey in the Force but offers an inspirational piece of hope to audiences and his fellow Jedi. It is just as Yoda says, despite everything they go through, and what they go through by the end of the war, through perseverance, hope, and the Force, they will find victory, "not victory in the Clone Wars. But victory for all time."

Sabine Wren Unloads In "Trial Of The Darksaber"

Star Wars Rebels: Sabine Duels With the Darksaber

For much of Star Wars: Rebels, Sabine Wren is pretty closed off, even called a bit of a loner by Ezra. As the show went on, fans got to know her and her backstory more and more, with the most significant development of that coming in "Trial of the Darksaber."

While training with and getting goaded by the Jedi Knight, Sabine unleashes upon Kanan with the Darksaber and lets go of so much emotional weight. Sabine confesses why she left Mandalore and how she is seen as a traitor by her family. The entire quote sums up who Sabine is deep down. It is perhaps Sabine's best and most iconic moment in the show and allows fans to relate to her on a higher level, to understand her character more deeply.

Obi-Wan's Emotional Dialogue To Anakin In Revenge Of The Sith (2005)

Obi-Wan speaks to Anakin, telling him he loved him, as he burns in the Mustafar lava in Revenge of the Sith

The benchmark for heartbreak and emotion in Star Wars for prequel fans is the finale of the Battle of the Heroes, in which Obi-Wan speaks to his fallen brother who is burning on the Mustafar ground.

Obi-Wan's dialogue is uninterrupted for the whole sequence except for Anakin's ionate "I hate you!" and his constant groans of agony. Every new line from Obi-Wan is shattering for audiences. He not only confesses the deep love he holds for his apprentice but that they are brothers, that he had the utmost faith in him to bring balance to the Force. It is delivered flawlessly by Ewan McGregor, which only adds to its excellence as the character and actor steals the movie.

Yoda's Iconic Speech In The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Yoda in the Dagobah swamp in The Empire Strikes Back

There is no speech in Star Wars that is on the level of what Yoda presents in The Empire Strikes Back. It has given goosebumps to generations of fans and will continue to do so for decades to come as the franchise gets ed from parent to child.

Here, Yoda pretty much lays out the nature of the Force to Luke, and how it binds all living things in the Galaxy together. It is a soliloquy that audiences get lost in, hooked on every one of his wise words. "Look at me, judge me by my size, do you?" "For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is." "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter." are all lines that come through this monologue, some of Star Wars' most iconic, proving just how fantastic it is.
