Other than Scarlet Witch, there are so many other mothers in comics and they are often a pivotal part of comic book stories and superhero movies. Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman had the iconic cover in which she's pregnant, which helped normalize the idea of a pregnant superhero. With the abundance of mothers in comics, Ranker decided which ones are the most influential.

Julia Carpenter was formerly known as Spider-Woman but is now called Madame Web. Julia's powers are very similar to Spider-Man and she has helped the Avengers and other heroes during events like Secret Wars and trained young heroes during Civil War.

Julia being a mother is also an important aspect of her character, as she has a daughter named Rachel with her husband Larry. Julia has even given up the superhero life to focus on raising her daughter. She also lost her powers for a while, which gave her the opportunity to settle down with her family.

Oracle

Oracle taking a call with the president.

Oracle aka Barbara Gordon was formerly known as Batgirl before an incident with the Joker that left her paralyzed. Since then, she's become Batman and his sidekicks techy, often giving them necessary intel and always looking out for them through the internet. To many fans, Barbara is more badass as Oracle than she is as Batgirl.

Surprisingly, Oracle has made Ranker's list of best mothers in comics without actually having any biological children. This is due to the fact that she certainly serves as a mother figure to the Bat-family. As Batman constantly enlists new young Robins, Oracle is always there to look out for the team and make sure no one gets hurt. Many fans believe Oracle holds the Bat-family together.

Jean Grey

Jean Grey is one of the main X-Men and one of the most powerful mutants. She's taken on many aliases, such as Marvel Girl and Phoenix, and not only is she an omega-level mutant but was exposed to otherworldly powers that make her more powerful than other X-Men.

Romance has always been part of X-Men comics, especially when it comes to the love triangle between Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Wolverine. One thing only comic book fans know about Jean Grey is that she shares a son with Cyclops, which just so happens to be the hero Cable. Even though Cable's birth mother was a clone of Jean Grey, after the clone's death Jean stepped up and become a mother figure to Cable, raising him as her own.

Wally and Linda's children also ended up with super speed abilities, which made Linda the mother of super-children. Linda having a family of heroes has been very difficult for her, especially when Wally traveled through the dark multiverse, causing Linda to forget her kids. It's evident how much she loves her twins because once she regained her memory, they were all happy to be united again.

Dinah Lance aka the Black Canary isn't typically a mother in comics, but in many alternate timelines, it was revealed that Dinah and Oliver Queen often have a child together. While the two don't have children in the main timeline, Dinah has met her daughter before.

Oliver and Dinah's daughter, who calls herself Black Arrow, reached out to her parents from an alternate timeline to reach out to them after the destruction of her world. Even though Dinah had just met Black Arrow, she was very protective of her daughter and accepted her as her own. As they fought together, Dinah insisted that Black Arrow stay behind her to prevent any harm from happening to her.

Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones is a former superhero who became a private investigator. She has a complex past, but she developed a relationship with the hero Power Man aka Luke Cake. Together, the two gave birth to a little girl named Danielle Jones.

It's very likely Jessica Jones could show up in the MCU, which could be exciting for fans to see this superfamily on the big screen. After the birth of Danielle Jones, being a mother has become an important part of Jessica's story. Including when Danielle turned purple, which signaled the return of one of Jessica's biggest enemies in her life. Family is a huge aspect of Fantastic Four comics, which consist of Sue Richards, her brother Johnny Storm, her husband Reed, and their friend Ben Grimm. Sue Storm and Reed Richards have two children together, Franklin and Valeria.

Some of the best Fantastic Four comic book storylines are those about their family. Their son, Franklin, also happens to be an omega-level mutant, making him an interesting child for the couple. Sue Storm loves her children so much, that she was even willing to give them up during their childhood due to the threat of supervillains attacking their home.

Martha Kent

Martha Kent is the adoptive mother of Superman. It's commonly known that Martha finds the infant after he crashes onto earth in a pod, after the destruction of his planet. Even though it was clear he was from an alien planet, she still takes the child into her home and raises him.

Many of Superman's values and heroism are attributed to both Martha and Jonathan Kent. They raised him to be a kind person and taught him how to use his powers to do good. Martha is often present in Superman comics as the person that Clark can see as guidance and reassurance. In actuality, Aunt May is Peter's aunt and doesn't have any biological children of her own, but she raised Peter as if he was her own child. Even with her old age, and the fact that Peter also has to help take care of her, she's still always there for him and offers him advice. She's incredibly caring, she often helps out different charities and helps give out food to the homeless.
