Furthermore, it showcases an independent and empowered woman who can kick butt and challenges the tropes of female characters as a damsel in distress in action films. Luckily, there is no shortage of action films where the character kicks butt and encounters their worst enemies.

While it has aspects of an action film, the movie also showcases a powerful message. Like the women in Gunpowder Milkshake, these ladies challenge a men-dominated world in a phenomenal action setting.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 is one of Quentin Tarantino's best movies. It is filled with brilliant martial art sequences, stylish score, and crafty western spaghetti elements. While the film is different from Gunpowder Milkshake in both its revenge plot and hefty martial arts scenes, it exhibits a strong-will leading female character who has the guts and strength to fight and has a long history as an assassin.
Charlie's Angels (2000) - Available On Netflix
When a voice ID software is stolen, three beautiful, intelligent, and highly trained female detectives are hired to save a billionaire and retrieve back his device. However, things soon turn complicated, and it somehow has to do with the team's mysterious boss, Charlie.
Despite some mixed reviews by critics and viewers for its story, Charlie's Angels showcases a worthy representation of girl power and has charisma with its sense of humor. It shares several elements of Gunpowder Milkshake, displaying the characters trained in guns, combat, and problem-solving. Furthermore, it also features a trio type of group, similar to the sisterhood of the three ladies who reside in the library. The only significant difference is that the angels are detectives, but the librarians are assassins and act as ing characters.
Safe (2012) - Available On Hulu
When a cage fighter has lost everything after throwing a match, he is brutally punished by the Russian mob to the point of losing anyone who comes near him. However, he soon protects a young girl against the same group as a way to seek redemption and end his misery.
Safe is one of the few entries that does not have a female-led character. Nevertheless, it shares a similar plot device in which a stranger is willing to protect a young child while also challenging a criminal organization. Furthermore, Jason Statham continues to be a powerhouse in action films and does so in this action thriller.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) - Available On Starz
Li Mu Bai falls in love with a young warrior and entrusts her to protect a sacred sword. However, when someone steals it, he ventures on a mission to retrieve it back while also coming across a young woman from an affluent family destined for more.
best martial arts films of all time, with brilliant performances from the cast, a beautiful story, and breathtaking action scenes. Gunpowder Milkshake is not Michelle Yeoh's first outing in kicking butt, and she is extraordinary in this film. While it serves more like a love story than an action thriller like Gunpowder Milkshake, nevertheless, the action sequences are spectacular to watch and showcases several strong female characters who also have style.
Birds Of Prey (2020) - Available On HBO Max
Harley Quinn is now single after her devastating breakup with the Joker. No longer with him, she becomes a target of many dangerous criminals, including Black Mask. However, when a situation arose surrounding a young girl, Quinn s forces with Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya to save her and defeat Black Mask.
Birds of Prey is most similar to Gunpowder Milkshake, in which an all-female team-up is formed to fight against a male-dominated entity and crime boss. The action scenes are fun and a blast to watch, given their stylish and colorful visuals and fast-paced sequences. Lastly, the duo between Harley Quinn and Cassandra also has the same reserved but trusting relationship as Sam and Emily from Gunpowder Milkshake.

After watching her parents murdered by a drug lord, Cataleya grows up to become a skilled and trained assassin. Having performed all her jobs and contracts efficiently, she has one thing that has become her life-long mission: to avenge her parents. Colombiana.
Of course, the character arc between Sam from Gunpowder Milkshake and Cataleya are very similar as they had a complicated and unlucky childhood that led to their occupation as an assassin. The difference is that Sam was never vengeful while Cataleya was seeking revenge.
Wanted (2008) - Available On Peacock
Wesley has lived a mundane and wasted life as an office worker. However, his life takes a turn when he slowly s an assassination group called Fraternity. As he trains for a more exciting life as an assassin, he also uncovers things about his past, including his deceased father.
While Jolie in one of the most underrated roles as Fox, who is also a skilled assassin like Sam from Gunpowder Milkshake.

Mad Max: Fury Road is one of the most exceptional, fun, and explosive action films, with mind-blowing car chases, a well-crafted plot, and outstanding cinematography. The action scenes are drastically different from Gunpowder Milkshake as it focuses on a car chase with a few gunfights. However, it does share the focus on female characters like Furiosa and Joe's wives and their motivation to challenge a dictatorial and toxic entity. Of course, the women are badasses.
