The critically acclaimed science fiction series Silo's cast is led by Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette Nichols with Tim Robbins as her primary antagonist, Bernard Holland. However, when a scientist and mathematician determines the downfall of the empire will soon occur, he endeavors to begin a new colony, known as the Foundation, on another planet, with the series contrasting the events of the two groups.

The series does a great job of contrasting the Foundation and the Empire just as Silo contrasts the experiences and goals of Juliette and those in the "down deep" with Bernard and Sims' plans to maintain order.

Though Silo takes place primarily underground and Foundation takes place in another galaxy, the shows both revolve around the collapse of a society and the events necessary for people to continue living. The series does a great job of contrasting the Foundation and the Empire just as Silo contrasts the experiences and goals of Juliette and those in the "down deep" with Bernard and Sims' plans to maintain order. Foundation also has great reviews, holding an 86% Rotten Tomatoes approval rating across its two seasons.

4 Station Eleven

Station Eleven Explores Similar Themes To Silo

Station Eleven is a miniseries that aired on HBO Max in 2021. Based on the book of the same name, it follows a group of traveling performers attempting to perform and stay alive many years after a deadly virus killed the majority of the Earth's population. Station Eleven was very highly critically regarded upon its release, being nominated for and winning numerous awards. The show holds a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and critics praised the performances and tone of the show along with its focus on the duration and importance of art.

Just as Silo makes use of relics in creating the Silo's past, Station Eleven uses the importance of the Station Eleven graphic novel as a focal point of the series. As a piece of art from a previous time, the graphic novel affects the main character's life and the lives of those around her. Like the extremes that Silo's characters are willing to go to for their relics, Station Eleven similarly frames artifacts as essential in shaping thought and creating hope.

3 The Last Of Us

A Great Dystopian Series With Another Season On The Way

Silo's underground dystopian world contrasts well with The Last of Us's post-apocalyptic world. Both shows focus on the aftermath of the destruction of most life on Earth and the experiences of survivors. The Last of Us's cast is led by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, who each give great performances, along with a stellar ing cast. As they attempt to travel across a barren America, the series creates the perfect blend of action and dramatic moments.

The Last of Us won eight Emmy Awards out of the 24 nominations that it received for its first season.

While Silo is based on a series of books, The Last of Us is actually based on a video game of the same name. Though video game adaptations have notoriously been difficult to get right, The Last of Us has been universally praised by critics and audiences. Its dark tone is similar to Silo and its characters are equally complex and interesting, making the two a great pairing.

2 Snowpiercer

Snowpiercer Makes Use Of A Different Setting With The Same Problems As Silo

Despite their different settings, Snowpiercer is thematically very similar to Silo. The series takes place on a moving train that holds the survivors of an apocalypse that resulted in the Earth being covered in snow and ice. Like Silo, Snowpiercer primarily focuses on class differences and the events that ultimately lead people at the back of the train to declare war on those at the front.

Snowpiercer is great at creating very tense moments and introducing surprising twists, making it a great series for fans of Silo.

Both shows focus on the unequal distribution of resources and the conditions that the lower class residents have to endure while their wealthier counterparts live in luxury. In particular, Jennifer Connelly and Sean Bean's characters can be compared to the Heads of Judicial and IT in Silo, while Daveed Diggs' character is equivalent to Juliette. Snowpiercer is great at creating very tense moments and introducing surprising twists, making it a great series for fans of Silo.

1 Westworld

The Science Fiction Series Is A Great Follow-Up To Silo

Westworld is a great science fiction series that is a must-watch for any fan of the genre. The series centers on an amusement park that is Old West themed in which robots work to carry out the desires of human visitors. However, the robot Hosts eventually gain sentience and work to fight back against their human creators as the show gradually changes course in the robots' favor over its four seasons. While Westworld's plot initially seems quite different to Silo, their shared genre and themes actually give them interesting parallels.

Both Silo and Westworld deal with difficult themes surrounding survival, morality, and freedom. The characters and plots of each show are unique, and it is their differences that actually make them perfect together because Silo fans will not be bored by Westworld's twists and turns. Despite its cancelation after four seasons, Westworld remains one of HBO's best series and the perfect science fiction watch after finishing Silo season 2.
