When it comes down to it, the animated series, Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends. But so far, many of his best comic friendships have yet to appear in the MCU.
A big part of that is the complicated rights issues that split out major Marvel characters to different movie studios in the past. That is now largely resolved, allowing Marvel Studios to build on the comic book legacy of Spider-Man in full. Here are some of his best friendships are may appear in the MCU in the near future.
Spider-Man And Iceman
Spider-Man and Iceman are a great duo mostly from their time together in the legendary Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends series that ran between 1981 and 1983 on NBC. The two have also been friendly in the comics. They share a similar sense of humor and were both very young when they got into superheroics.
They've both been a little self-consci0us about it in respect to other heroes, with Bobby being the 'young one' in the X-Men and Spider-Man often being the junior partner of teams like the Fantastic Four in the early days. With the debut of the X-Men in the MCU seeming like it's on the horizon, this friendship would be a great one to show.
Spider-Man And Firestar
A friendship that could appear in the MCU, and absolutely should, is with Firestar. Angelica Jones has a unique history in Marvel. She shares similarities with DC Comics icon Harley Quinn in that she appeared first in a cartoon before officially becoming part of the comics canon.
In the animated series, she was friends and sometimes a romantic interest of Spider-Man, but in the comics, she's been a solid friend for decades. That said, in some alternate timelines and universes in the comics, there is still some romantic tension between the two.
Spider-Man And Captain Marvel
Spider-Man and Captain Marvel have so far shared just one brief exchange in the MCU, but it shows a little of why Carol Danvers and Peter Parker are friends in the comics. Over the years, the two have settled as close friends and allies.
They might seem an odd pair, with Peter often dishing out a lot of jokes and one-liners, and Carol being pretty serious and focused on the mission at hand. But he lightens her up a bit and she definitely serves as a model of not just a good hero, but a friend.
Spider-Man And Luke Cage
Luke Cage and Spider-Man are both heroes who live and fight in New York City, but it took a while for them to become close. They didn't until the New Avengers era in the early 2000s when both men ed the team. After that, they became friendly, even if there were some bumpy parts at first.
With Luke Cage part of the canceled Netflix Marvel streaming series and potentially up to be incorporated into the MCU, this is a friendship that could and should show up in the franchise as soon as it's possible.
Spider-Man And Deadpool
Spider-Man and Deadpool are one of the Deadpool 3 coming soon under the MCU umbrella, it's certainly possible.
One thing is for sure: the two of them on screen would be a laugh riot. They share a love of humor and jokes, with Deadpool owing a great debt to Spider-Man in of both his looks and personality. Deadpool has become much more meta than Spider-Man has even been, however.
Spider-Man And She-Hulk
Another character in Marvel Comics with a meta relationship with the reader is She-Hulk getting her own Disney+ streaming series in the near future, this friendship stands a great chance of showing up on-screen.
Both Spider-Man and She-Hulk have a playful sense of humor, which makes their team-ups a lot of fun. Their adventures never get too serious, though she did represent him in court against J. Jonah Jameson once when Spidey sued The Daily Bugle editor for libel and defamation.
Spider-Man And Black Cat
Spider-Man's greatest love is Mary Jane Watson, in the movies and in the comics. But there are always other suitors and one of the most interesting is Black Cat. Felicia Hardy is a sometimes foil, sometimes friend of the Wall-Crawler, and always flirty.
Their dynamic is a lot of fun and it's easy to see how their complicated friendship would make for great storylines in the MCU. The two have gone up against a lot of other big Spider-Man villains together, making her a great possible fit for the MCU at some point in the near future.
Spider-Man And Daredevil
A major Spider-Man comics connection that may happen in the very near future of the MCU is with Daredevil. Like Luke Cage, Spider-Man and Daredevil are New York City superheroes. Their friendship goes back much longer though, to virtually the beginning of both of their careers.
Lawyer Matt Murdock doesn't have a ton in common with Peter Parker, but they share a similar background and outlook on helping others. Spider-Man: No Way Home, if fan speculation turns out to be right.
Spider-Man And Wolverine
Spider-Man and Logan are definitely an unlikely pair. Peter Parker is young and jovial, while Logan is older and a lot rougher around the edges. Nevertheless, the two share a close friendship. They bring out the best in each other and always have each other's backs.
Similar to Luke Cage, they didn't really gel until they were both a part of the Avengers. Their earlier encounters were a lot more fraught, including one in which both were drawn into a battle that saw of Wolverine's strangest romantic partners, Charlemagne, perish.
Spider-Man And Johnny Storm
Spider-Man and the Human Torch are in many ways the greatest Spidey friendship in the comics. Their close bond goes back to the very beginning when Spider-Man first encountered the Fantastic Four in Amazing Spider-Man #1 back in the '60s.
The cocky Johnny Storm didn't get along with the equally quippy Peter Parker at first, but they quickly bonded, sharing a lot of adventures together over the years. Human Torch would have appeared in Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends, but rights issues prevented it and led to the creation of Firestar.
