With droids being all over the place, almost everyone in the galaxy owns one or knows one. No one is ever surprised when they see a droid. It would be like if Americans were surprised when they saw a car. With so many droids in the galaxy, some are bound to be better than others. Here is a list of the 10 best droids in Star Wars history, ranked.

These type of droids are very interesting. It shows while any species can learn to help deliver a baby, you can still design a droid to do a person's job. They made a droid to do the job of something that people have been doing on our Earth since the beginning of time. It is interesting to see how much more advanced they are with their technology.

R4-P17

R4-P17, or sometimes referred to as Arfour, was owned by during the Clone Wars. She was made by Industrial Automaton, and will protect Obi-Wan and his ship to her best ability by use of her elctro-shock prod.

She was able to perform hyperspace navigation and calculate hyper speed jumps. Sadly, she did not survive the Clone Wars, as she was killed by a buzz droid the Battle of Coruscant alongside Obi-Wan.

Droideka

pjimage (89)

Droideka's are the bug-looking droids first used in the Invasion of Naboo and during the Clone Wars. These type of droids roll into action and immediately put up a shield. The shield is hard to get through, but guns and lightsabers may get through the barrier with enough persistence. These droids were made by Colicoids and are a type of battle droid.

These droids are more powerful than your average B1 battle droid. They pack a bigger punch when shooting and their shields keep them from falling too quickly.

C1-10P, or Chopper, is a droid seen in Star Wars RebelsHe is an astromech droid made by Industrial Automaton.

The interesting thing about Chopper is that he is far beyond his expiration date. He has lived decades longer than he should have, and no one has kept him up to date. He was even active during the Clone Wars. After all this time, Chopper has developed a cranky and sarcastic attitude towards people, but he has his good moments. Despite a few (or several) signs of psychopathy, he can also be loving when he wants to be.

IG-88

pjimage (91)

IG-88 is a very dangerous assassin droid. He was made by Holowan Laboratories and has a lot of deadly weapons. IG-88 knew right when he woke up what he had to do and wanted to do. He wanted to kill and destroy people. The first kill he made was actually in the laboratory he was made in, when he killed everyone in the lab.

He is know known as a feared bounty hunter and is Boba Fett's rival. Of all the deadly foes in the galaxy, IG-88 is the main rival of Boba Fett. One of the reasons he is so tough to beat is because of his metal body. It allows him to escape most situations unharmed.

C-3P0

pjimage (92)

C-3PO is a protocol droid. That means his job is to be help humans and other races across the galaxy in their etiquette and protocol. Droids like C-3PO are programmed to recognize about 30,000 different species around the galaxy, as well as speak their languages.

The most popular 3PO unit is, of course, the one from Tatooine. He was rebuilt with parts from other droids by Anakin Skywalker. Just like R2-D2, he has been around for ages and has followed a lot of different masters around. C-3PO is good at his job, and the Resistance would not be the same without this smart-talking droid.

K2 came to a very sad end during the Battle of Scarif. He made sure Andor and Jyn Erso were able to steal plans to the Death Star so they could finish their mission. K2 sacrificed himself for this important mission, but no one will know for a very long time until Luke Skywalker.

 L3-37

pjimage (94)

L3 is not like any other droid in the galaxy. She is one-of-a-kind, as she kept upgrading herself with multiple droid parts she came across. She is a piloting droid owned by the one and only, Lando Calrissian.

Something incredible about L3 is that she cared very much about the rights of droids. She was ionate and very open about her thoughts on that matter, but she was destroyed because of it. L3 has a different mindset than a lot of droids in the galaxy, and that is what made her so amazing.

BB-8

pjimage (95)

This sweet little droid is a little shy and skittish at first, but is willing to do whatever he needs to do to make sure the First Order goes down for good. BB-8 is an astromech droid much like R2-D2. BB-8 belongs to the resistance's prized member, Poe Dameron.

BB-8 made his debut in Star Wars: The Force Awakens with a very important mission. BB-8 was tasked with delivering the piece of a map that could reveal Luke Skywalker's location. Despite a few minor mishaps, BB-8 succeeds on his mission and will forever be known as the cutest droid in the galaxy.

R2-D2

pjimage (96)

The number one best droid in the galaxy is, of course, R2-D2. R2's home planet was Naboo and he is an R2 astromech type droid. R2 has had a bunch of different owners, but started his journey across space under Queen Amidala's rule. He then went on to serve Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker, and is now helps the Resistance by recalling past adventures.

R2-D2 is one of the most loyal droids in the galaxy for whoever he is serving, he is willing to do whatever he needs to make sure they are safe, and he gets the job done for them. He is also willing to fight with his electro-shock prods when he or his friends are threatened.
