It can be an overwhelming experience in important in Supply Run missions which prioritize being fast and deadly to collect as many supplies as possible.
The trick to this in Onslaught is for players to make sure that they have the best weapons available to them at all times. In between missions, players have the option to switch between all of the weapons they have available at the time and bring up to four with them on a mission. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each of these weapons is integral to surviving in the game. This guide shows players which weapons are the best in the game.
The Walking Dead Onslaught: All The Best Weapons
Not only can players switch their loadout at the armory between missions in The Walking Dead Onslaught, but they can also get a feel for them at the shooting range nearby. This can give players a good idea exactly how a firearm is going to perform in combat, as well as give them the opportunity to test out new upgrades. Make sure to always test out new weapons before bringing them on a mission.
Machete- This weapon is perfect because it is acquired fairly early in Onslaught, but it can easily be used up until the final moments of the game. It is heavy enough that it can be used to slice of limbs or dismember enemies, but can also be stabbed through heads to kill zombies in one motion. The best aspect of the Machete is that it can also be upgraded to grant players a berserk ability that improves damage if they string multiple kills in a row together and they can also obtain an upgrade that ignores enemy armor.
Crossbow- Daryl's famous Crossbow is ridiculously powerful in The Walking Dead Onslaught. One-shot is fairly likely to kill any normal zombie no matter where they are stuck at, and it surprisingly has a decent rate of fire. The only downsides to this weapon are that it can only hold five bolts at a time and is practically useless against armored foes. Luckily both of these issues can be solved by upgrading the weapon, and there is an additional upgrade that allows bolts to pierce through an enemy and strike whatever is behind them.
Heavy Pistol- The Heavy Pistol is the perfect middle ground between the standard pistol and the revolver. It has the same fire rate as the standard but much higher damage, which makes it perfect for lining up headshots and clearing a room. It isn't as powerful as the revolver, but reloading is much faster and it carries much more ammo than that weapon as well. Players can also add a laser sight to improve aiming as well as an extended magazine and more powerful ammo to the Heavy Pistol which makes it the best sidearm to have at all times.
Assault Rifle- The Assault Rifle can definitely do some damage against zombies, but for that purpose, it is mostly a waste of ammo. No rather than trying to use it to kill zombies in the game, it is instead best used as a way to stun hoards and run away. The rate of fire is extremely impressive and it does just enough damage that players can spray a few rounds into a hoard in order to dash past without being damaged. The Assault Rifle is perfect for quick getaways.
Battle Axe- By far one of the most fun weapons to use in The Walking Dead Onslaught is the Battle Axe. This massive double-sided axe is able to push hoards back, knock zombies to the ground, and even remove heads with one fell swoop. Those who use it double-handed are able to deal immense amounts of damage to all everything around them without taking a bit of damage. Even without upgrades, the Battle Axe can be the best weapon in the game in the hands of a capable player.
The Walking Dead Onslaught can be played on PlayStation 4 VR.
