Evan Rachel Wood and Jimmi Simpson in Westworld Season 1 Episode 5

As the second season saw the battle between the hosts and the humans reach the end of its conclusion, there were some new revelations that kept everyone on their toes. And in the episode "Les Écorchés," some were addressed in exciting ways that elevated the story .

Among the best was the return of Ford and his confrontation with Bernard now that he knew he was not human, as well as Dolores and her plan to free everyone from the park for good. But what made these entertaining wasn't just the violence before and after these feuds and the outcome of their schemes, but the psychological game behind them.

This episode was considered to be one of the best for setting up a smart, multi-stranded television series that explored hard-hitting themes and concepts that a lot of sci-fi shows haven't previously addressed. Fans of the original movie may have gotten something different, but it was able to capture the intrigue of its audience from the start.

The Well-Tempered Clavier - Season 1, Episode 9

Tessa Thompson and Ed Harris in Westworld Season 1 Episode 9

As the first season was reaching its tenth and final episode, the show continued to keep audiences guessing while some characters would finally clash. From Maeve outsmarting Bernard to William and Logan's clash of interests about the park's potential, there were a lot of questions that needed answers.

But despite the many mysteries that left audiences puzzled, its intrigue and the time skip were satisfying for many. This episode also revealed the motives behind the Man in Black as well as the build-up towards what Ford was up to as the next story was set up, all of which made it one of the best-ranked episodes from IMDb as well.

Fans finally got to see some of the most conflicted and mistreated characters reach closure. Whether they intentionally made their decisions or fate had a way of taking them on a new path, the episode was a mixture of heart and sorrow.

Trompe L'Oeil - Season 1, Episode 7

Bernard and Robert in Westworld

During the first season, Theresa Cullen and Bernard clashed when it came to the park and the potential threat from the hosts. And this would lead to one of the best surprises to date throughout the entirety of the show.

Among the many twists and turns throughout the first season, Bernard being revealed as a host was not also one of the most memorable episodes, but also his most iconic scene so far. What made it much more disheartening was to see how far ahead Ford planned to control and manipulate him under everyone else's noses.

Vanishing Point - Season 2, Episode 9

Ed Harris Westworld Season 2 HBO

Since he first appeared in the pilot, the Man in Black has been a ruthless and brutal character within the dense cast. But in the episode "Vanishing Point," fans dived into more about his backstory and the reason he has roamed the park for all these years.

By looking at the past of this brutal and seemingly emotionless character, the writers also delivered one of the best episodes from the second season. By focussing on his relationship with his daughter, audiences see just how far he went to escape his family's tragedy and heartbreak. Although, despite what he's gone through, some might think that he deserved harsher consequences for his past actions.

The Riddle of the Sphinx - Season 2, Episode 4

Westworld season 2 - Bernard with drone host

After the wild finale from the first season, the second had a lot to live up to and would slowly introduce more questions than answers. And in this particular episode, fans were introduced to James Delos and his relationship with the Man in Black, as well as saw Bernard reuniting with Elsie Hughes.

The mixture of familiar and new faces opened up many secrets that fans just couldn't wait to unfold. But what made this episode memorable was Peter Mullan's performance as the headstrong Scottish owner of the Delos company, he was undeniably one of the best Westworld characters introduced after season 1.

The Bicameral Mind - Season 1, Episode 10

Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Leonardo Nam, Rodrigo Santoro, Thandie Newton in Westworld The Bicameral Mind

Season 1 certainly ended on a chaotic high note, as Ford's plan was finally revealed, while some hosts took actions into their own hands now that they were freed. All of the stories told throughout the season were finally colliding and would make the wait for season 2 that much more unbearably intense.

It was no surprise to see that all the planning and scheming between everyone would be unveiled and make this one of the best episodes throughout the entire series. And seeing the hosts finally take their revenge against the humans who kept them imprisoned within the park would get some justice and be the start of their new journey.

Kiksuya - Season 2, Episode 8

The Kiksuya episode from Westworld

Not many characters received their own episode that showed everyone their back story and led to the audience falling in love with them. "Kiksuya" is undoubtedly one of the most unique and impressive episodes of Westworld, and Akecheta would become one of the biggest players for the 2nd season.

With tragedy and mystery scattered across his programmed life, the character's journey to be freed from the cruel Westworld was an engaging one. Furthermore, his relationship with Maeve and her daughter would become one of the best chemistries seen across the whole series.
