While not Emma Frost's most cold-hearted line, of which she has many, the quote still shows her ability to be brutally honest.

Emma Frost can be flippant at times to make a point. Sometimes it's humorous and other times, not so much. In 2009's Dark X-Men: The Confession #1, Emma makes her point by emphatically stating that she has no lost feelings towards Magneto, Professor X, or Hope Summers in of who will lead the mutants of the world. This is because she believes that Scott Summers is the future of mutantkind.

While not Emma Frost's most cold-hearted line, of which she has many, the quote still shows her ability to be brutally honest, putting down some of the brightest mutants to state her opinion. Surely there was a way to make the same point without dragging down others, but that's not her style. She may be beloved by comics fans, but she is not winning any popularity contests in the Marvel universe, never shying away from hot takes or unpopular opinions.

Astonishing X-Men Vol 3 27

Abigail Brand is a notorious adversary of the X-Men who has had her fair share of altercations with the mutant team, including an attempt at destroying Krakoa. While Emma Frost may be an enemy to the X-Men at times herself, she has also ed the team many times over, playing an important part. When Emma is aligned with the X-Men in a 2008 issue of Astonishing X-Men Vol 3, she makes her feelings about Brant crystal clear, as evidenced by this one-liner.

Never one to mince words, Emma Frost delivers this quip to Cyclops after he insults Abigail, complimenting him and saying how proud she is of him while uttering this harsh, cold-hearted line. As much as Emma can give it, she can rarely take it. As a result, this insult lobbied by Emma would not go down well if the roles were reversed.

8 "Put the gun down, or Beef will pop the heads of your housekeeper, Tai, and your girlfriend, like unwanted acne."

New Warriors Vol 1 #10 by Fabian Nicieza, Mark Bagley, Sam de la Rosa, Andy Yanchus, and Joe Rosen

Emma Frost In New Warriors.

When the New Warriors hack into the computers of Emma's Massachusetts Academy in one 1991 issue, she is determined to find out why, leading her Hellions to ambush Night Thrasher. Delivered to Night Thrasher, the one-liner shows how little concern Emma has for human lives when it suits her. She states that she will have people eradicated if she does not get what she wants and even compares them to unwanted pimples.

Emma has always had a way with words, making a turn of phrase out of the most cutthroat sentiments. Interestingly, she makes the threat inherent in this quote less serious due to her acne simile, showing that she does not fully recognize the ramifications of her propensity for violence. On the other hand, she maybe does recognize it, making her seem all the more evil during her villainous periods. She knows full well that her Hellions will do what she says at a drop of a hat ,and Emma is always intentional in her statements, making the threat all too real.

While Emma is telepathic and able to turn herself into a diamond form, she cannot do both at the same time.

7 "You're so unpleasant even I'm impressed."

Astonishing X-Men Vol 3 #22 by Joss Whedon, John Cassaday, Laura Martin, and Chris Eliopoulos

Emma Frost surrounded by white light in the comics

This one-liner is cold enough on its own, but the line that follows is also just as funny, seen when Emma says, "Do you visit orphanages to explain there's no Santa?"

In a list of Emma Frost's least favorite people, which is surely very long, Abigail Brand would rank near the top. Brand, an agent of S.W.O.R.D., gets under Emma's skin, prompting her to utter this hilarious line. As insulting as she can be, Emma Frost is also self-aware enough to notice her own faults at times, recognizing that she is no picnic either. But even she can see how unpleasant Abigail Brand is.

This one-liner is cold enough on its own, but the line that follows is also just as funny, seen when Emma says, "Do you visit orphanages to explain there's no Santa?" She can come up with hilarious yet cold-blooded lines with complete ease, providing yet another example to the ample evidence of Emma Frost's intelligence and wit.

6 "You know, Thanos, for someone who claims to have such a powerful intellect, you so often seem to think with other, lesser parts of your body."

Thanos Vol 4 #2 by Christopher Cantwell, Luca Pizzari, and Ruth Redmond

If there is anyone bold enough to insult the Mad Titan Thanos directly to his face, it is Emma Frost. This ice-cold one-liner is uttered when Emma Frost s the latest version of the Illuminati, along with Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Mister Fantastic, and Blue Marvel, to protect Roberta Marshall. In the 2024 Thanos series, it's revealed that Roberta is actually Thanos' long-lost love, Death, disguised in human form. He is bent on destroying the Earth to reunite with Roberta, necessitating the Illuminati to defend not just the Earth but Roberta as well.

Emma delivers this line to Thanos when he is quickly approaching Roberta before she unsuccessfully tries to disorient him with her powers. Not willing to deliver an attack without some sort of sharp-witted remark, Emma proves that wisecracking can get one only so far as, in the next few s, she is shown getting pummeled by Thanos.

With brains and beauty, Emma Frost possesses the same intelligence level as the brainy Stephen Strange and Peter Parker.

5 "Every time you hear the words 'parsley', 'intractable', or 'longitude', you will vomit uncontrollably for 48 hours."

Astonishing X-Men Vol 3 #5 by Joss Whedon, John Cassaday, Laura Martin, and Chris Eliopoulos

Emma Frost inserts a trigger phrase into guards' minds

The telepathic command is completely superfluous, evidencing Emma's pettiness, which is pretty funny to fans of the verbal jesting White Queen.

An example of Emma's cruel sense of humor and less than professional use of her powers, she uses her abilities to deliver a telepathic command to Benetech soldiers when she's cornered along with Cyclops. After their unlucky encounter with Emma, every single time the soldiers hear the words in the quote, they're going to have a very bad couple of days ahead of them. Cyclops, who is dating Emma at this point after the death of Jean Grey, responds with an aside about how weird his girlfriend is.

The telepathic command is completely superfluous, evidencing Emma's pettiness, which is pretty funny to fans of the verbal jesting White Queen. The fact that Cyclops can view this quote of Emma's with humor shows how close he and Emma were when the Astonishing X-Men launched in 2004, giving his relationship with Jean Grey a run for its money.

4 "I've been breaking little girls beneath my will for longer than you've been talking, Miss Summers."

Generation Hope #5 by Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, Matthew Wilson, and Dave Sharpe

x-men emma frost hellfire gala costume

Hope Summers and Emma Frost, as much as they clash, are not that different. They both believe in themselves and their importance to mutantkind. Yet, the two butt heads more often than not, as this one-liner from 2011's Generation Hope #5 suggests. When Hope dares suggest that Emma Frost, the White Queen herself, is scared of her, Emma predictably does not take kindly to the thought. Instead, she delivers this line that says more in one sentence that some would need a whole paragraph to say.

The confrontation between the powerhouses reveals their rivalry and Emma's tenure as an all-around force to be reckoned with. In addition, the back and forth also shows that Emma is never willing to back down from anything. When her pride is at risk from Hope suggesting that Emma is scared of her, Emma does not let it go, instead providing a simple yet effective sentence of her power.

The Uncanny X-Men Vol 1 #131 by Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Terry Austin, Glynis Wein, and Tom Orzechowski

When the X-Men come to rescue some of their teammates that Emma Frost and the Hellfire Club have kidnapped, things understandably get serious between the formidable White Queen and her numerous adversaries (at the time). In a tense standoff between Emma Frost and the imprisoned Storm in this 1980 issue, Emma tries to telepathically interrogate Storm. Due to Storm's resistance, the interrogation is actually quite painful, leading to an intense standoff.

During the confrontation, Emma delivers this icy and dramatic one-liner to the struggling weather-centric superhero. The quote shows how Emma is always determined to get what she wants, regardless of the cruelty it may involve. This trait has softened a bit since she turned from her more villainous ways, but it has not disappeared completely.

2 "Sowing seeds of distrust is all fine and dandy, Emma...but now it's time...to get...drastic."

Emma Frost Vol 1 #12 by Karl Bollers, Carlo Pagulayan, Dennis Crisostomo, Cory Petit, and Mike Marts

Marvel Comics' Emma Frost

As the quote shows, Emma assembles her plan of turning the henchmen on each other, but knows that she is going to have to be ruthless and even lethal to get herself out of danger.

Emma Frost's solo series serves as a prequel of sorts that dives into the backstory of one of the X-Men's most beloved and iconic characters. Showing her early life as a regular human and the beginnings of when she first manifested her mutant powers, the 2003–2005 series shows how Emma came to be tough as nails through the troubles she had with her family.

The future White Queen delivers this quote after being kidnapped by the Boston mob. She is held for ransom, which her father agrees to pay, but Emma finds out that the mob is planning on killing her anyway. This calls for her to use her powers to their full extent and resort to extreme measures. As the quote shows, Emma assembles her plan of turning the henchmen on each other, but knows that she is going to have to be ruthless and even lethal to get herself out of danger.

Uncanny X-Men Vol 1 #151 by Chris Claremont, Jim Sherman, Bob McLeod, Josef Rubinstein, Bonnie Wilford, and Tom Orzechowski

Emma Frost and Storm in Uncanny X-Men Vol 1 151.

This storyline shows Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw in evil collaboration, concocting a wicked plan that Emma relishes the whole time, with this icy one-liner showing her glee at her momentary victory.

In a body switch storyline from 1981, Emma Frost is in the body of Storm and able to wreak havoc on the X-Men completely undetected. For instance, she "accidentally" attacks a Sentinel so that it just so happens to knock into Wolverine, seriously injuring him. Masquerading as Storm, Emma has the trust of the X-Men, fooling Colossus into turning back into his human form. After he is in his less powerful form, Emma takes full advantage, striking Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Amanda with lightning bolts while uttering this iconic line.

Achieving yet another step in her nefarious plan, she has taken down the X-Men from the inside. This storyline shows Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw in evil collaboration, concocting a wicked plan that Emma relishes the whole time, with this icy one-liner showing her glee at her momentary victory. While she would later find herself fighting on the same side as the X-Men, Emma Frost has never lost the ice-cold demeanor that she's possessed since her earliest days in Marvel Comics.
