Judging from early events, the show is keen on wrapping up the storylines of existing characters rather than introducing new ones. And fans are unlikely to have a problem with that since every existing character is quite exciting. But who are the true fan favorites? Through Ranker votes, a few individuals have come out on top.

Omar

Omar becomes Jimmy's work buddy when he gets employed at the Santa Fe law firm, Davis & Main. He is the first to welcome Jimmy and also the last to bid him goodbye when he leaves the firm.

Omar only appears in season 2 but fans still him fondly because of his positive demeanor. Everyone else at Davis & Main, including Jimmy, is sucked up in the meanness of corporate culture but Omar remains level-headed and kind. He goes out of his way to help Jimmy even when he doesn't have to. His most heart-warming favor was helping the sleazy lawyer move his belongings back to the tiny salon office after his dismissal.

Chuck McGill

Jimmy's brother Chuck is the co-founder of one of Albuquerque's most prestigious law firms,  Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill (HHM). He and Jimmy rarely get along and are definitely TV brothers with a horrible relationship.

Chuck's best arc revolves around his mental health storyline as he believes he has from electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS), but it's all an illusion in his mind. He often comes off as villainous because of his tendency to look down on Jimmy and constantly attempt to sabotage his career. The animosity between Chuck and Jimmy leads to an epic emotional rivalry.

Marco Pasternak

Marco is introduced as Jimmy's friend who used to partner with him during his days as a scam artist back in Cicero, Illinois. The two briefly reunite when Jimmy returns to Cicero while on sabbatical.

Marco's moral com is poor but Jimmy considers him more of a brother than Chuck. This is understandable because Marco is very caring. His love for Jimmy makes fans adore him in return and it's indeed a sad tale when he confesses that he was only happy in life when he was scamming people with his friend.

Howard Hamlin

The senior partner at Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill (HHM) is initially Chuck's close friend but soon distances himself from him. He then orchestrates Chuck's early retirement while making attempts to manipulate Jimmy too.

Howard's greatest trait is his business acumen and it's largely because of him that HHM is so successful. However, he leans more towards villainous territory as he is strict and selfish, always making decisions that benefit the company only. Jimmy, therefore, keeps on trying to embarrass him, leading to some rather hilarious moments.

Gustavo "Gus" Fring

The narcotrafficker is also the proprietor of the Los Pollos Hermanos restaurant chain. As an independent trafficker, Gus finds himself in direct conflict with some of the most dangerous cartel in Better Call Saul.

Always the composed criminal, Gus is depicted as an intelligent and cautious crime boss. He knows just how to deal with his enemies and is merciless to anyone who attempts to cross him. As a character, Gus is better explored in the spinoff than on the original show, as audiences get to learn the genesis of his feuds.

Kim Wexler

Kim builds an impressive resume as a lawyer before falling in love with Jimmy and choosing to be his business partner. From time to time, she participates in his schemes.

Unlike Jimmy, Kim has a conscience, and she always does her best to ensure her actions don't affect clients negatively. She has mastered the art of loving unconditionally too. In her relationship with Jimmy, she remains caring and understanding even when he puts them both in harm's way.

Nacho Varga

Nacho serves as a henchman to Tuco, Hector, and Lalo at different stages of the series. He is later influenced to betray Lalo.

Whereas the other Juarez cartel are portrayed as impulsive and sadistic, Nacho is the most reasonable. He has mastered the art of plotting against his bosses, too. It's because of him that Hector ends up paralyzed and Nacho loses his hacienda during an attack meant to kill him. Alongside Hank SchraderNacho also deserves credit for being one of only two people to face off against The Cousins and get out alive.

Lalo Salamanca

Lalo arrives from Mexico to run the Albuquerque branch of the Juarez cartel after Hector becomes incapacitated. He is soon drawn into a rivalry with Gus Fring.

Despite being one of the most powerful characters in Better Call Saul, Lalo is ever happy to get his hands dirty rather than pull strings.  Overall, he is a complete villain, capable of conniving, killing, and fighting, all by himself. He is also very unpredictable, A smile is quickly followed by gunshots and a simple information search can result in him jumping from ceilings like Spider-Man.

Mike Ehrmantraut

Mike starts out as a parking lot attendant at the courthouse before going on to become Gus Fring's chief henchman. And while at it, he builds relationships with Jimmy and several cartel .

Whenever he faces off against a younger opponent, he always comes out on top.

Jimmy McGill, aka, Saul Goodman

Due to his tendency to always get too close to criminals, the Saul Goodman & Associates founder often has to juggle between representing genuine clients and dangerous ones. And he is never afraid to use illegal tactics to win cases.

Jimmy's character development is better than any other character on the show. He grows from a con artist to mailroom clerk to star attorney in just a short span of time. He's always a source of engrossing storylines, as he keeps finding himself in all types of situations, from intense courtroom debates to shootouts in the middle of the desert.
