Better Call Saul's Final Scene May Not Be The Last Time Jimmy & Kim Speak

Jimmy McGill's prior life as corrupt lawyer Saul Goodman finally catches up to him in the second half of season 6. At the end of Better Call Saul, Jimmy manages to negotiate his life sentence down to just seven years in a prison of his choosing. However, he has a change of heart in the Better Call Saul series finale, and accepts a longer sentence to prove to Kim that he has changed. Even though Jimmy will almost certainly die in prison, Gould's recent comments suggest that Jimmy and Kim probably stay in touch. Gould said:

In my mind, I could go back and forth, depends on what day you ask me. I find it hard to believe that she’s done with him. He’s in one of the most awful situations a human being can be in. Now having shot in a real prison, it’s a dire, dire place. It’s just awful, and it’s terrible that we have to have them. She knows he’s there. I find it hard to believe that she’s not going to call him, send him a letter, send him some cash to buy cigarettes, whatever.

Because of his actions at the end of Better Call Saul, Jimmy is sentenced to 86 years in prison. He is in a terrible situation, but he has the opportunity to finally be at peace since he did his best to make things right with Kim. Since he proved to Kim that he had changed and learned from his mistakes, they can have a relationship moving forward. As Gould acknowledges, this is not a traditional relationship. Gould also acknowledged that Jimmy will be very useful to the other prisoners, and will likely help them out in various ways. Meanwhile, Better Call Saul's ending teased that Kim could return to being a lawyer in some capacity.
