After a long wait, fans are thrilled to see Better Call Saul return for its sixth and final season. It promises to be an intense conclusion to the story and a captivating goodbye to these wonderful characters.
The magnificent cast of the show is a big part of why Better Call Saul works so well. Some fans will recognize them from Breaking Bad while others are entirely new characters. But the cast has done a great job of bringing the characters to life and making them unique. And while they might now be best-known for their roles on Better Call Saul, fans will likely recognize these actors from elsewhere as well.
Michael McKean: This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
Chuck McGill (Michael McKean) may have left the series earlier on, but he remains a very important part of Jimmy's story. He seemed like the villain of the early seasons at times with his unfair and spiteful way of treating his brother. But he also had valid concerns about Jimmy as a lawyer.
Though Chuck is a fairly intense role, McKean is mostly known for his comedic background, especially in the comedy classic This is Spinal Tap. The mockumentary follows the of a popular rock band as they head out on a crisis-filled tour. McKean plays one of the eccentric rockers.
Kerry Condon: Rome (2005-2007)
Though Mike Ehrmantraut was a key character in Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul digs even deeper into the character, including his family. Stacey (Kerry Condon) is the widow of Mike's son who remains very close to her father-in-law. She helps him to deal with his grief while also learning some of Mike's darkest secrets.
Condon is an Irish character actor who has appeared in a number of high-profile projects over the years. But her biggest role was likely in the epic HBO series Rome. Condon plays Octavia, the sister of the Roman Emperor.
Mark Margolis: Scarface (1983)
As one of the most memorable characters in Breaking Bad, it is a thrill to see Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis) return in Better Call Saul. Though he was certainly still a formidable man, even after his health issues, the prequel series gets to explore just how frightening this man could be.
Margolis has had a long career in movies and television that features some true classics. Perhaps his most famous role was in Scarface. Margolis plays another mostly silent role as a Bolivian hitman forced to work with Tony Montana.
Patrick Fabian: Friends (1994-2004)
Howard Hamlin is another fascinating character in the series and someone who shares a very complicated relationship with Jimmy. He is a lawyer who worked alongside Chuck and balances his feelings of sympathy and frustration with Jimmy.
Better Call Saul marks Fabian's biggest role to date although he has appeared in a number of terrific shows in smaller roles for decades. One that fans might him from is in the episode of Friends in which Phoebe gives birth to triplets. Fabian plays a male nurse.
Michael Mando: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Better Call Saul enjoys playing around with the concept of criminals and bad guys, and that is best seen with the character of Nacho (Michael Mando). He first seems like a typical thug in the drug trade only to be made a much more sympathetic character who is looking to escape but has no way out.
Mando is a very exciting up-and-coming actor who made a brief but memorable appearance in the MCU's Spider-Man: Homecoming. Mando plays Mac Gargan, a gangster who, in the comics, turns into the villainous Scorpion.
Giancarlo Esposito: The Mandalorian (2019-)
Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) was likely the most memorable and formidable villain in Breaking Bad. The ruthless and dangerous drug kingpin who hides in plain sight is a fascinating character. He continues to showcase his chilling calmness and efficiency in this series.
Esposito has been popping up in a lot of high-profile television projects these days. He plays yet another iconic villain role as Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian. As a member of the Empire's reign, Gideon seeks to return the Dark Side to its seat of supremacy in the galaxy.
Tony Dalton: Hawkeye (2021)
Though he was only introduced in season four of Better Call Saul, Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton) quickly stole the show. He is yet another unique villain as a charismatic, funny yet cold-blooded member of the cartel who seems unstoppable in his mission.
Dalton recently appeared in the MCU as Jack Duquesne in the Hawkeye Disney+ series. Jack is a somewhat sketchy and mysterious man dating Eleanor Bishop and a man who also proves to be quite handy with a sword.
Jonathan Banks: Mudbound (2017)
Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) gradually grew into one of the most likable and badass characters on Breaking Bad. Better Call Saul is very much his own story too and it will be fascinating to see how the series wraps up his storyline given that fans already know Mike's ultimate fate.
Banks is a character actor who has appeared in countless classic movies and television shows over the years, from Beverly Hills Cop to Gremlins. But one of his best roles was as a vile and racist patriarch of a family on a failing farm in the period drama Mudbound.
Rhea Seaborn: Things Heard And Seen (2021)
As much as the show is about Jimmy McGill's transformation, it is also about Kim Wexler as she teeters on the same line of immorality as him. Kim is perhaps the most complex and intriguing character on the show and audiences are deeply invested in the outcome of her story.
Recently, Seehorn starred alongside Amanda Seyfried in the horror movie Things Heard and Seen. Seyfried plays a wife and mother who moves into a new home with her family and suspects a darkness under the surface. Seehorn plays a local woman who befriends Seyfried.
Bob Odenkirk: Nobody (2021)
Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) was very much the comic relief character on Breaking Bad and was an immensely fun addition to the show. But few people would have predicted that the character could make for an interesting protagonist in his own story. But the journey of Jimmy McGill to Saul Goodman has been an entertaining, intense, and brilliant one.
Odenkirk had proven himself a talented comedic force long before the role of Saul Goodman came along. But Odenkirk recently surprised everyone with his action hero turn in Nobody. He plays a mild-mannered family man who is left humiliated following a home robbery which awakens his dangerous past.
