You can seemingly throw morality and ethical decency out the window when being a legal professional, butKim Wexler's high-octane life, but they're probably still television-worthy.
Now, the good news is that, if you're itching for more legal acrobatics and drama after Better Call Saul left behind a gaping hole due to its season five finale, you'll find plenty of other shows to fill the void while waiting. These 10 similar lawyer TV shows ought to satiate your needs without having to go to an actual courtroom.
Boston Legal
Much like Saul Goodman, the suits in Boston Legal have a certain comedic and unorthodox flair about them. The main attraction of this drama/comedy series is a group of lawyers solving and winning civil cases in the most unethical ways possible—it should be right up your alley.
Like Better Call Saul, Boston Legal is also a spin-off, namely of another compelling lawyer drama show called The Practice. There are five seasons of them and the show ran from 2004 to 2009 grabbing many Emmy awards along the way. You can't go wrong with this one.
Suits
Speaking of "suits," Suits is also another lawyer show you want to check out. It's an ongoing lawyer drama that began back in 2011. We all love underdog lawyers, right? It just so happens that Suits' main protagonist, Mike Ross, is a highly intelligent man with a photographic memory. The only problem: he doesn't have a law degree.
A law firm hires him anyway, and, since then, Ross has been making a killing in courtrooms winning cases after cases despite having no law background or legitimate credentials. It's more serious than Better Call Saul though, but a great drama series nonetheless.
The Defenders
The Defenders only ran for one season, but that doesn't make it any less qualified to be on this list. It's also not to be confused with Marvel's The Defenders, which features rogue superheroes—The Defenders is all about a different kind of "suits."
Anyway, the twist in The Defenders is that it takes place in Las Vega,- a unique location often least explored in lawyer or crime shows. It follows the exploits of two attorneys who go the extra mile to help their clients while being torn in a tug of war between their career and personal lives.
Silk
Fancy a drama with British accents? Look no further than Silk. It's a lawyer drama show set in the United Kingdom, and it is every bit as posh those go. Get ready for an abundance of prim and proper hair, silk gowns, and powdered wigs.
Silk is all about lawyer rivalry where everyone isn't content with being just a lawyer but also wants to be a royal lawyer. As such, it's own brand of political drama goes beyond the courtroom in what appears to be one of the most Machiavellian stories among all legal drama shows.
Billions
Part corporate drama and part legal drama, Billions is loosely based on a real-life battle between a former U.S. Attorney and a hedge fund manager of a huge corporation. It has four seasons already, and a fifth is poised to air this May.
Billions features a stellar cast with Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis at the helm as they duke it out legally, trying to outdo each other in the financial market. It's not as street-level as Better Call Saul, but it ought to fulfill your high society chaos appetite.
How To Get Away With Murder
Lawyers getting entangled in a life of crime shouldn't surprise you anymore given Saul Goodman's portfolio, but How to Get Away with Murder cranks up that tension even more. It involves a group of law students and their teacher whose lives got turned upside-down when they're suddenly involved in a homicide case.
Luckily, they're all very knowledgeable when it comes to criminal defense. If Better Call Saul dissuaded you in pursuing a life of law, then How to Get Away with Murder will likely inspire you to go in the other direction.
L.A. Law
Outside of the courtroom and other legal matters, attorneys' lives can be just as troubled, if not more so. L.A. Law explores this angle of lawyers through a high-powered law firm that charges a for their clients.
All that courtroom intrigue is seasoned with the personal lives and romantic liaisons of the firm's lawyers. Think of them as added challenges for all the legal staff and professionals. This all takes place within the City of Angels.
The Practice
The Practice is often considered to be the best legal TV show out there, and it wouldn't have had such a good spin-off if it hadn't been that successful. It's a rather straightforward show where the lawyers defend the guilty and win the cases all within ethical boundaries.
The Practice occasionally throws in a dash of light comedy amidst all the legal problems clashing with personal morality, giving it a bit of heart and not just all doom and gloom. It's certainly a must-watch for any fan of the subgenre.
Damages
If you want something more serious or possibly more stressful—in a good way—then Damages might be what you're looking for. It's a legal thriller involving a focused and ruthless lawyer named Patty Hewes who will stop at nothing to convict a greedy billionaire.
Helping Hewes is her newly graduated law protege named Ellen Parsons. Together, their combined legal knowledge takes center-stage in five seasons of this award-winning and gripping legal battlefield.
The Good Wife
Last, but not least, we have The Good Wife, a series in which a woman named Alicia Florrick takes matters into her own hands and returns to her law career after her state attorney husband becomes involved in a sex and corruption scandal.
As an added bonus, Florrick has to juggle between her motherly duties and her return to law practice which is easier said than done especially with two children in tow. Even Saul Goodman would prefer being a friend of the cartel to that sort of challenge.
