With Patch 7 introducing a built-in mod manager, and Patch 8 coming with even more for mods, it's easier than ever to create new content for new questline based on DnD's Spelljammer. As the game nears the end of updates, it's clear that fans won't be running out of new content anytime soon.

There's lots of content that didn't make it into the final version of the game. Baldur's Gate 3 has scrapped Origin characters, areas, plotlines and more. For a game as large as BG3, this was obviously inevitable - many of these cuts ensured the game's quality in the long-run, though this hasn't stopped fans from being disappointed, knowing their gameplay experience could've been much different. With Larian assuring mods can be added smoothly, it may be a good idea for modders to turn to old content plans for ideas.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Missed Out On Exploring Avernus

The House Of Hope Wasn't Going To Be All Players Saw Of Avernus

A Steam called Settings created a comprehensive post detailing all fans know to have been cut from Baldur's Gate 3 at some point during development, and one of the things mentioned was that Avernus was originally going to be an explorable area, "of similar size to the Underdark." In the epilogue scenario where the player and/or Wyll takes Karlach to Avernus, she will mention that she found some blueprints in Avernus to fix her engine. This implies that this could've been the original direction intended for the end of Karlach's story, and that the player would've found the blueprints themselves.

Karlach's dialogue after an ending where the player comes with her to Avernus would still make sense if they found the blueprints during their campaign. A new quest where the player traverses Avernus, putting blueprints together, could be added in smoothly - perhaps somewhere during the House of Hope questline. There are already several infernal enemies in the game, such as imps, cambions, and several types of demons. All that really needs to be added on top of that is a new area, and perhaps some unique items.

Act 2 Of Baldur’s Gate 3 May Seem Short, And There’s A Reason Why

There Was Originally A Plotline Surrounding The Raven Queen

Lots of players have noted that Act 2 feels significantly shorter than Acts 1 and 3, and this may be because a large portion of the storyline was cut. There was originally going to be a plotline with the Raven Queen, who is a deity from Dungeons & Dragons that originates from the Shadowfell, similarly to Shar. The most players find in the game relating to her is He Who Was, one of her followers. He is a Shadar-Kai - an elf tainted by the Shadowfell's influence.

The best order to proceed through Act 2 in Baldur's Gate 3 isn't always clear, but one approach makes it possible to avoid missing content.

When it comes to modding, the small amount of content surrounding the Raven Queen may actually be an advantage - creators can get imaginative with their interpretations of her influence on the Shadow-Cursed Lands. There isn't a lot of area to explore in the Shadowfell in the base game, so a mod surrounding the Raven Queen might add some more to it. Since Shadar-Kai use the same base as elves, it also wouldn't be too difficult to create more of them as well.

Players May Have Seen A Belt Slot In The Armor Menu, But Belts Cannot Be Found In The Base Game

A Whole New Class Of Equipment

In early access, there was another equipment slot for belts, yet players could not actually find any of the belts in-game. Considering how it was a feature that quite a few players were looking forward to in the full release, a mod which adds different belts could add some more gameplay and exploration incentive for those who have already played the game. This would allow players to customize their avatars a bit more, since the only thing they can really change about their full-body armor is the color.

Areas in Baldur's Gate 3 are hard to get through due to the Shadow Curse afflicting the land, which your party can move into with a source of light.

Belts were likely removed for cosmetic purposes, as they may have had issues clipping with certain armor pieces. However, that isn't a reason why any modder interested in adding this mechanic back into the game shouldn't try it. The reason why Larian made little content for a BG3 DLC was to make sure that everything put into the game was made with love and ion. With so many modding talents in the community, fans of Baldur's Gate 3 can pick up where Larian left off.
