The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper gets reimagined as a comic book-style character in new fan art. The Big Bang Theory aired for 12 seasons following the lives of Sheldon, his roommate Leonard Hofstadter, and other friends as they deal with Sheldon's peculiar personality and the odd scenarios he gets them in. Many aspects of nerd and pop culture are represented in the series, including many action figures, trips to Comic Con, and large comic book collections, as the sitcom establishes that these scientists love comic books.
A new fan art created and shared by @gamzatmagomedovart on Instagram captures Sheldon in comic-style illustrations. Take a look at the art below:
The image shows Sheldon at his best, standing with his arms behind his back and adorned in his signature style with a Green Lantern t-shirt with a long sleeve underneath. Sheldon's famous catchphrase, "Bazinga," is also illustrated behind him in a comic book font.
Comic Books Are Good For Sheldon
While Sheldon Cooper can be a difficult character at the best of times, a lot of his better qualities come from his love of comic books. In The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon is often shown as apathetic to others and lacking empathy, but when it calls for it, Sheldon learns from comic books. His friends are shown using comic book characters as examples for Sheldon on how to handle difficult situations. The X-Men inspired Sheldon, as he views himself as Professor X on a mission and his friends as his X-Men (or, in this case, his C-Men), helping him deal with moral dilemmas.
The benefits of comic books on Sheldon also happen in Young Sheldon season 1, episode 4, "A Therapist, a Comic Book, and a Breakfast Sausage," when the young genius learns to let loose and discovers comic books. Sheldon and his first friend Tam visit the comic book shop, a hobby he later shares with his friends Leonard, Raj, and Howard. He has another growth moment in Young Sheldon season 5, episode 12, "A Pink Cadillac and a Glorious Tribal Dance," when he rebels and goes to Comic Con. Sheldon narrates in this episode that Comic Con was one of the first places he felt accepted among his peers.
Comics are not only enjoyable to Sheldon Cooper, but they also help him make friends and connect to the world around him. He views himself as the main character in The Big Bang Theory and acts according to his comic book rules. This fan art perfectly captures the best parts of Sheldon Cooper, illustrating how he views himself.
