Warning! Spoilers for the Sunday, August 16 episode of Big Brother below!

The Big Brother 22: All-Stars live feeds viewers are claiming that Memphis Garrett said some harsh and potentially racist things during his nominations ceremony speech as Head of Household. The Big Brother live feeds are always cut during competitions and ceremonies. However, it is typically very easy for fans to infer what happened whenever the feeds are down. After all, the houseguests discuss things that happened in competitions and react to decisions made in the game, and those conversations ultimately reveal whatever the feeds did not show.

The footage that BB fans do get to see from competitions and ceremonies is whatever makes the final cut on the primetime episodes that air on CBS. Sometimes, production decides to keep full scenes and statements so that viewers can make their own judgment calls. On the other hand, there are also times that producers choose to not showcase something that could potentially cause more complicated issues for the network, for the TV show, or for the contestants.

Following the most recent nominations ceremony, the Big Brother 22: All-Stars live feed viewers quickly realized that Memphis Garrett had nominated David Alexander and Nicole Anthony for eviction. However, the live feed fans also noticed that several houseguests were very angry when discussing Memphis' speech to nominate David. As pointed out by @BB_Gossiper"Dani, Nicole F, Kevin, Cody, Enzo, Tyler all communicating that Memphis' nomination speech was harsh/uncalled for/made them uncomfortable." Within the various conversations taking place after the nominations ceremony, fans caught wind that Memphis' speech was in the lines of discrediting David's casting as an All-Star. Some houseguests even referenced Memphis allegedly using the word "boy" to describe David. As pointed out by @MattDRiccardi (seen below), there is a long history of "boy" being considered a racist term when used to describe an adult Black man. In any case, it certainly wasn't just the fans who were angered by Memphis' speech. As showcased in a clip shared by @Tooms_BB (seen below), Tyler was clearly very angry at Memphis. He told David, "F**k all that buddy s**t. (...) He's gonna get cooked in that veto." Tyler also motivated David to let his anger out in the Power of Veto competition so that he can take himself off the block.

Given how sensitive this situation is, it's possible that Memphis' speech will be heavily edited when it airs on Sunday's episode of Big Brother: All-Stars. After all, the show has historically shied away from tackling topics that were much bigger than the Big Brother game. With that said, this season has so far made room for discussions about race, ableism, and religion. Therefore, it is possible that this issue will be tackled on the Sunday episode.

Because the live feeds are cut during competitions and ceremonies, the only footage that the fans will get about this situation is whatever the show chooses to air on Sunday. However, the temperature of the house following the nominations ceremony certainly indicates that some very harsh choice words were uttered.
